Job Objectives:
To plan, programme and manage the execution of drilling, completion and workover activities to deliver “fit for purpose” wells at maximum value in terms of cost versus benefits, which meet the requirements of the Development and/or Exploration function as laid down in their well proposals while adhering to Company's policies, procedures and guidelines on well delivery operations. To implement the “Delivering The Limit (DTL)” methodology. To ensure Company’s health, safety and environmental objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensures full compliance with the the company’s HSE policies and procedures as detailed in the Safety Management System, HSE Standards and all other appropriate Brunei Shell HSE documentation.
- Conduct relevant HSE-Critical activities as specified in the HSE-Critical Activities Register (BSP-09-Guideline-016).
Sets a clear leadership example and promotes a high degree of health, safety and environmental awareness among subordinates.
- Reviews effectiveness of rig HSE management by line inspection.
- Provides input to the TSW HSE Plan and is accountable for follow-up and documented close-out of individual and subordinates’ action points, identified in TSW HSE plan.
- Fully briefs wellsite personnel prior to safety critical / non routine activities such as CPRA and well testing. Actively participates in regular departmental and Contractor HSE meetings.
- Co-ordinates the follow-up and close-out of rig related action points resulting from near miss and incident reports and HSE visits and audits.
- Encourages well site staff in hazard awareness and risk assessment, generation of hazard-, near miss- and incident reports, by continuous attention and communication.
Well Planning & Execution of Operations
- Strives for full adherence to the Company Well Delivery Process description and the associated time line. Prepares departmental input for well proposals and ensures well proposals are optimised with respect to well quality, HSE and cost efficiency.
- Designs wells and manages the generation of fit for purpose well programmes.
- Maintains close liaison with the Material Scheduler to ensure forward planning for all non standard direct charge material requirements ascertained from preparation of well proposals and/or well programmes. Supervises and directs wellsite personnel in the execution of the ongoing and planned well operations.
- Plans and executes all well operations in full compliance with Company procedures, policies and guidelines. Provides timely and accurate information to departments on operational status and any deviations from plans, programmes, policies, procedures or guidelines.
- Facilitates short term planning and scheduling of personnel, equipment and services required for the well operations under his control.
- Ensures update of well files as operations progress, writing of end of well reports and reporting / documentation of non-standard or irregular operations and events.
Concurrent Production and Rig Activities (CPRA).
- Manages CPRA involving the rig for which he is responsible.
- Ensures that the platform specific CPRA Safety Case has been issued and the requirements have been implemented prior to starting CPRA.
- Ensures full compliance with CPRA procedures for the duration of CPRA.
- Monitors co-ownership production deferment booked agains his CPRA activities.
Well Tie-In
- Manages well tie-in involving the rig for which he is responsible.
- Ensures that the all approvals have been obtained and that adequate procedures and documentation is available on the rig prior to prior to starting well tie-in.
- Liaises with varios depts. in matters involving preparation for and execution of well tie-in activities.
Rig Move and Platform Access
- Schedules and attends rig move meetings and liaises with various depts. during the preparation of the actual rig move.
- Ensures rig move, involving the rig for which he is responsible, has been planned and discussed with all required parties (Drilling Contractor representative, etc) prior to execution of rig move operations.
- Verifies and ensures well integrity in line with The company's procedures prior to performing any heavy lifts and/or approaching a platform/well jacket with his rig.
- Ensures platform/well jacket is handed over in accordance with platform/well jacket handover procedures.
Management of Costs
- Reviews contents of the well proposal and challenges all aspects where alternative more cost effective solutions are available to meet the technical demands and requirements of the well objectives.
- Is responsible for compilation and submission of the Level 2 and Level 3 Cost Estimates using the approved procedures and formats (software).
- Challenges and verifies all available cost data for inclusion in cost estimates to ensure required accuracy is achieved.
Liaises with different departments on the economic viability of a well. Monitors and challenges the reported daily cost using the WIS, WAMS and CostPlan2000 cost reporting facilities.
- Monitors the accumulating well cost versus the planned cost, reporting all variances to the TSW/1 or TSW/2.
- Supervises the DSV / WSDE in application of correct procedure for buffer stock accounting and rig to well transfers to ensure accuracy of reported data and efficient materials accounting at the wellsite.
- Prepares any programme amendment costings as required and ensures necessary approvals are obtained.
Close Out, Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Ensures the (Senior) Drilling Supervisor prepares end of the well reports in the approved format and arranges the presentation at the TSW review meeting.
- Provides feedback to group departments on the use and recommendations for improvement of the WIS, WAMS and CostPlan2000 software programmes.
- Provides feedback to the contracts section on the use and recommendations for improvement of the drilling rig and drilling service contracts.
- Provides input for the monthly MIR and quarterly review reports.
- Ensures all data derived from the wellsite operations is validated.
- Performs cost performance analysis as required and documents all operations where, technically feasible, more cost effective solutions exist.
- Ensures dissemination of the performance analysis by inclusion in the relevant section of the end of well report.
- Closely monitors all incidents of Non-Productive Time (NPT), ensures full and proper reporting of all incidence of NPT in WIS and end of well reports and reviews to capture cost implications and learning points. Maintains regular contact with drilling contractor and service company representatives to ensure mutual understanding of operational requirements as well as to identify opportunities for quality improvements.
Personnel
- Advises, instructs, guides and motivates subordinate staff in the efficient performance of their duties.
- Works in a partnering environment, sharing office space with drilling contractor provided well engineer.
- Works in close co-operation with both drilling contractor provided well engineer and service contractor engineers, who all share the company’s offices and are members of the Well Delivery Team.
- Is responsible for writing Performance Record for Senior- and/or Assistant- and/or Drilling Supervisors assigned to his rig. Participates in staff appraisal exercises.

| Habilidades: |
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years Well Engineering experience of which at least 2 years as Drilling Supervisor.
- Shall have completed the SIEP Round I and Round II self study exercises and passed the associated exams.
- Shall be in the possession of a valid IWCF certificate at combined surface and sub-sea supervisor level.
- Shall have attended the SIEP Advanced Drilling Techniques course. |
