Role
Manage all elements of the construction of Iron & Steel projects
Tasks
• At the proposal stage develop the construction philosophy / construction methodology.
• Estimation of construction costs (structural / mechanical) for the overall project estimate based on in house estimates or quotations from selected tenderers.
• Preparation of construction enquiries, bid analysis and organise bidders site visits.
• Construction programme development
• Estimation of supervisory site manning requirements.
• Prepare contract order documentation.
• Planning, co-ordination and organisation of construction activities prior to the commencement of site work or the appointment of a site manager
• Carry out risk assessments and develop the construction site health and safety plan (CDM Regulations)
• Prepare safety and work method statements
• Prepare equipment installation procedures
• Site management / supervision if required
Education / Knowledge
Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Essential
• Experience in the use of spreadsheets
• Experience of construction management, including on site
• Experience of site supervision and installation
• Experience of Site Health and Safety requirements
• Experience of construction programming ( Microsoft Project)
• Experience of erection methods and techniques
Desirable
• Knowledge of relevant technology and product within the Iron and Steel Industry.
• Experience as part of a successful project team
