The Stockton-on-Tees based Iron & Steel Division is the worldwide competence centre for Ironmaking within the Siemens organisation.
Role
You will take responsibility for the design, specification and supply of fluids systems and equipment, including water and gaseous systems.
Tasks
• You will be responsible for the work undertaken in a specific project, pre-project or plant area and will oversee the development of the optimum schematics, plus supervising the basic and/or detail design within the area and preparing the engineering specifications and calculations for the purchase and supply of the systems and equipment.
• You will also be required to generally provide technical advice and guidance to more junior departmental and agency staff.
• You will have the experience and ability to be able to apply good design skills and also be able to make design judgements from both a technical and commercial understanding.
• Although the majority of the work will be office based there will be a requirement to visit suppliers and clients both in the UK and overseas, sometimes for extended periods of time, where the project requires.
Education / Knowledge
Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant discipline
It will be an advantage to be proficient in using CAD systems such as AutoCAD in 2D and be familiar with 3D packages such as CadWorx. You will also have a general high skill level in the use of IT.
Experience
Essential
• Strong background in fluids engineering
• Experience of leading a team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, alongside a high level of initiative, self motivation and flexibility
Desirable
• Knowledge of relevant technology and products within the Iron and Steel Industry.
• Experience as part of a successful project team
