Job Statement
IndyAct is a global league of independent environmental, cultural and social activists. IndyAct is currently focusing its operations in the Arab World. Although it is a new organization, IndyAct has already established several campaigns in the Arab region, especially Lebanon, on issues such as climate change, resource management, marine and coastal protection, and youth and women’s rights. The organization’s motto is “Passion with Professionalism” and applies it in all its campaigns. IndyAct has launched in Aug07 the "Arab Climate Campaign", which is an advocacy campaign focused on the Arab League’s post-2012 climate policy. The organization is currently seeking a regional climate campaigner to work within IndyAct’s climate team across the Arab World. to insure achieving campaign goals and objectives. The primary objective of the Arab World Climate Campaigner is to insure achieving all campaign goals and objectives for 2008.
Duties and Tasks
• Assist in building the Arab Climate Campaign strategy and plans
• Implement the agreed campaign plans and activities
• Build the “Arab Climate Network” (ACN), a regional NGO network working on post-2012 climate policy in the Arab World
• Represent the campaign in front of campaign stakeholders and media across the region
• Build campaign material and communication tools (position papers, brochures, briefs, etc.)
• Develop and maintain extensive contacts and relationships with relevant campaign stakeholders
• Maintain a general knowledge of recent and relevant information on climate change policy, technology, science, etc. in the region and globally.
This job will involve frequent travel both within the region and globally.
Working Hours
Full time job from 9am to 5pm, Monday till Friday. On account of his/her responsibilities, the Regional Campaigner may be asked to adjust his/her working hours to suit the requirements of his/her duties.

| Habilidades: |
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Personal belief in and support for IndyACT’s mission and core values
• At least 3 years of experience in climate change work, international negotiations, environmental policy, NGO campaigning, or relevant fields
• Proven experience and knowledge in general management (project and team management)
• Proven experience in policy development and negotiation
• Strong understanding of Arab World politics and culture
• Proven strategic skills
• Strength of will and determination to drive an advocacy program
• Effective networker with charisma
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to handle large volume of work and have excellent organization skills
• Commitment to creating positive environmental, social and cultural change
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team worker, good listener, and able to delegate
• Ability to take initiatives and be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
• Computer literacy
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic (French is a plus)
• Grant writing experience is a plus. |
