Qualifications:
* Experienced environmental technical background with a minimum of 4 years in the environmental field involving site investigations, remediation and/or other technical areas such as third party vendor management.
* Demonstrated ability to grasp environmental concerns within a complex business transaction and find solutions/mitigants in resolving such concerns -- committed to highest standards in obtaining and delivering EHS support to meet business objectives.
* Strong communication skills with outstanding interpersonal skills; able to interface effectively with all levels of the Organization.
* Demonstrated expert knowledge and command of Mexico EHS regulatory regime including the assessment of environmental risk.
* Willingness to travel and flexibility to meet deadlines (e.G. Ability to work overtime).
* Strong academic credentials.
* Must have the ability to travel up to 40% within Mexico.
Responsibilities:
As the Environmental Risk Specialist with GE Commercial Finance, Real Estate (GERE), this individual will support GERE's Mexico real estate portfolio activities by leading all aspects of environmental technical due diligence.
* Review transactions and evaluate in a timely manner the potential EHS risk to Gere.
* Select and manage third-party environmental consultants for acquisition due diligence.
* Direct activities of consultants in environmental compliance and management issues.
* Develop due diligence plans for transactions, providing oversight to outside consultants, and preparing information packages for submission to CEP for approval of any transactions elevated to CEP level for approval.
* Develop and drive implementation of EHS integration plans.
* Successfully work as both individual contributor and Mexico Platform team member, as well as liaise with Gere Hq Ehs team, Commercial Finance and Corporate Environmental Programs staff to:
* Effectively achieve business objectives;
* Ensure consistency of GERE risk approach to environmental, health and safety risk; and* Ensure internal consistency, completeness and quality of documentation, pitches and communication from GERE to or with the HQ EHS team, Commercial Finance and/or Corporate Environmental Programs to ensure that deal background, technical risks and mitigants are addressed.
* Ensure that EHS systems and processes are put into effect (either by tenants or GERE) to manage post-closing operational (Day 2) issues in an environmentally sound manner, as well as compliance with all applicable regulations, including that disposition strategies are consistent with the Company's expectations.
* Work with deal team members and key platform personnel to raise awareness of potential environmental issues/concerns associated with deals and help to elevate sensitivity of such issues within platform.
Desired:
* Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences or Legal with a specialization in environmental science is strongly preferred.
* Bilingual in both Spanish and English written and oral communication is strongly preferred.
* Familiarity with GE's EHS expectations/policies/programs is a plus.
* Consulting background would be viewed as favorable.
* Lead by example, clearly able to demonstrate GE values, self-motivated and independent manager.
* Capacity to produce summaries in a timely manner and to multi-task while also driving issues to closure.
