Job Objective:
Working knowledge of Safe Work Permit Program. Emergency Responder, HAZMAT and First Responder training preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills, high energy level, ability to make timely decisions, excellent computer skills especially MS Excel and MSWord. Ability to organize and maintain required Regulatory records to ensure compliance.
Summary of Job Roles:
The primary responsibility of the SSL is to ensure that the site complies with the safety and permit requirements of the following regulations: OSHA, Fire Marshall, State Police, etc. The SSL is responsible for auditing and improving the processes for maintaining safety compliance with the above mentioned regulations and the associated recordkeeping and reporting requirements. The SSL is also responsible for coordinating Emergency Response Mutual Aid with Shell Norco which includes functioning as the Single Point of Contact for coordinating and maintaining good standing for
all associated training requirements.
Responsibilities:
-Field Consultation and Safety Best Practices audits in the field
-Site regulatory focal point for OSHA requirements
-Job Permitting Systems (hazardous, confined space, etc)
-Employee Safety Training (fire fighting, emergency response, permitting, etc.)
-Contractor Safety Training
-Develop and maintain site wide audit program to ensure prescribed safety practices meet or exceed requirements
-Auditing of field activities (operations and maintenance contractors)
-Auditing of safety management systems
-Operations Checklist reviews
-Routine Safety Meeting participation
-Red-Tag Drill involvement
-Conduct table top drills/exercises with operations/maintenance personnel
-Coordinate site wide safety drills
-Safety Procedure Review and Updating
-Some cross-training with Site Industrial Hygienist to ensure compliance
-OSHA Recordkeeping including OSHA 300 Log and related documents
-Near-Miss/Incident Reporting System (SHARE.)
-Incident Investigation, reporting and follow up
-Safety Equipment maintenance
-Personal Protective Equipment and Medical Supplies focal point
-Emergency Response (team roster, team activities, training, status, etc.)
-Process Hazardous Analysis review participation
-Capital project review and field construction auditing
-Injury and Near Miss analysis
-Weekly review of proposed and new OSHA regulations to ensure compliance |

Additional Requirements
Ideal candidate will have the following:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in Industrial Safety at a Chemical Plant or Refinery
- Leadership and Organizational skills
- Hazmat
- Osha Regulations experience
- Experience in Audit and Evaluation of Safety Programs
- Emergency Response Team
- Degree in Industrial Safety or related field
