Finance Director South Africa
Location Woodmead
Qualification: CA SA
Salary: R1.4 million highly neg.
The company’s business in South Africa has profitable sales of 1.3 billion rand (£92m), employs around 8000 people in 700 units, and is the market leader in food service with growing capability in support services. The emphasis will be upon structuring the business and developing the sales, business development and technical capability needed to take advantage of the very significant growth opportunities presented by 2010 world cup and general growth of the RSA economy, within the special legal/ social framework that exists in RSA.
Key responsibilities include
• Working in partnership with Managing Director to develop business strategy , drive for optimal performance and create shareholder value
• Proactively monitor performance at regional sector levels, and champion any corrective action as necessary
• Develop a culture of strong financial controls and corporate governance
• Implement and comply with group policies and financial protocols
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting and planning process
• Attract retain and develop a high calibre finance team in South Africa
• Oversee contract development and performance
• Manage necessary statutory reporting in Southern Africa
• Oversee the audit function and processes in Southern Africa
• Provision of financial and business analysis to support business planning and investment decisions
• Provision of timely, accurate reporting in line with MAP and best practice guidelines
• Supporting operational and commercial teams in the development of their businesses
• Further develop IT framework for strategy and performance
• Managing payroll and development of associated systems
• Manage the risk management portfolio including insurance
• Oversee HSE in the business.
Personal attributes: The successful candidate will be a qualified chartered accountant with commercial experience, preferably from a complex, multi-site, diverse business of a similar size. Strong communication skills and cross-cultural sensitivity along with demonstrated change management skills essential. A legal background would be an advantage.
