Position Details
Position: Landscape Architect
Job Summary
The Landscape Architect is responsible for creating landscape designs & estimating projects for company clients. Will act as a facilitator to ensure timely delivery of quality designs by using creativity & artistic talent, good organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Monitoring and co-ordinating with contractors on all aspects of Hardscape and Softscape procurement.
Hardscape, including exterior stonework (paving of roadways, pedestrian walkways and parking lots), cladding, GRC-artificial rockwork, wood decking, site furnishings, natural rock grouping, and water features (fountains, water jets and swimming pools).
Softscape, including plant material inspection (on site, at local nurseries and over-seas), on-site planting and associated landscape elements [soil mixing, levelling and capillary movement (drainage)].
Review and approval of shop drawings, materials samples, mock-ups etc
Onsite design modifications and implementation of additional clients’ requests
Participating in the preparation of periodical progress report; Correspondence with client, project managers and contractors.
Co-ordinating and liaising with other sections of the Municipality and Gardens Directorate (workshop, nurseries, transportation department, etc…), contractors and other third parties as necessary for the progress of works.
Work proactively to resolve any problems or site issues as they occur.
Ensure that all resources of materials, manpower, and plant and equipment are available at all sites in a timely manner for proper progress of works.
Ensure that work at all sites is proceeding according to program and to the required standards, in accordance with approved designs and instructions issued.
Follow up the progress of all ongoing site work on a frequent basis to ensure timely and proper completion of site work.
Qualification
Bachelor of Design in Landscape Architecture/Landscape Management
Specific skills required
Experience working on large multi-disciplined projects, from conception to completion.
Good experience in all phases of landscape and urban design, including construction administration for a variety of project types (residential developments, resorts, institutional, corporate, highway and streetscape development projects).
Strong academic and professional experience in all disciplines of landscape architecture design ranging from site analysis through construction document phases with emphasis on being a team player for results.
Professional practice to include client interviews and proposals, schematic design and design development, cost projections, computer and hand renderings, construction drawings and specifications, on-site layout and construction observation, and management elements of a professional office.
Strong computer skills including AutoCAD 2004, Microsoft Office, Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator and In Design.
Commercial awareness and a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken, and the level of responsibility accepted.

Experience
5+ years of post qualification experience; Experience in the consulting industry within the Middle East/UAE desirable.
