This leading Organisation is seeking a Compliance Leader for a permanent role based in Qatar.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Oil and Gas Compliance Department’s key focus is to build, maintain and continuously improve the compliance culture through prevention, detection and response of compliance issues and implementation of the six Core Compliance processes.
Specifically, the functions of the job are to:
• Overall compliance leadership for O&G in Middle East region for overall O&G business
• In conjunction with O&G Senior Leadership team, internal and external counsel, and country managers, develop and continuously monitor compliance risks, action plans and overall strategies to grow while ensuring compliance risk is limited
• Review status of implementation of six Core compliance processes – support business leaders in improving the process areas and address actions to improve compliance culture / environment, including regulatory excellence
• Ensure implementation and understanding of O&G compliance policies, procedures, and training with a particular emphasis on improper payment areas
• Ensure Early Warning system is implemented to align with Infrastructure model and embedded with normal business operations
• Continued identification of synergies between O&G and legacy VG
• Support Risk assessment process including automated tool, survey, focus groups, roundtable rollup – summarize and develop abatement plans
• Develop strong communication plan to support overall O&G and VG communication plan
• Actively participate in selection and due diligence of new agents and representatives as well as renewal discussions
• In line with overall O&G compliance, help assist with compliance audit plans (e.G. Supplier Due Diligence)
• Develop quarterly Compliance Review Board in Middle East
• Conduct Compliance training along with business leadership – Compliance leadership training, New Hire training, etc
• Ensure corrective action to address compliance violations and concerns is being proactively and continuously addressed
• Provide leadership, coaching, and continuous feedback to all the in-country functional business compliance resources
• Share practices across businesses and within O&G compliance resources
In order to apply you should have the following:
Required Qualifications:
5+ years relevant in-house legal or senior compliance experience
• Prior experience with improper payments / Fcpa
• Strong English and Arabic communication skills (spoken and written)
• Compliance experience in dealing with third parties, including due diligence
• Proven ability in developing and implementing strategies to accomplish business goals
• High-energy, self-motivated, confident leader willing to take on responsibilities across geographic and business boundaries
• Ability to take on a travel schedule … estimate travel to be 30% ongoing … maybe more at the beginning of assignment
• Strong project management skills
• Strong process, execution and operational skills
• Ability to delegate & empower others
• Ability to coach & influence peers
• Strong inter-personal skills and a strong team player
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Proven leadership skills
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organization
Desired Characterisics:
Corporate Audit Staff experience
Certified Quality Black Belt or Green Belt
Additional language skills
Advanced degree (equivalent JD, MBA etc.)
