Position:
ESL Teacher for the EXPLORE Program (formerly the Summer Language Bursary Program), Centre Linguistique, CEJEP Jonquière - Ottawa
Clientele:
Teenagers (15-18) - Canadian Francophone and international youth participating in a 5-week English immersion program.
Salary:
$25.00 per hour. Approximately 105 hours of work during the program.
Program Duration:
July 7 – August 8, 2008 * Must be available for two pre-program training sessions.

Responsibilities:
To teach ESL to groups of approximately 16 students varying in age from 15-17 years in a team teaching environment
To assist students in their overall adjustment to the program by directing them to appropriate staff members when necessary and by notifying administrative staff of any issues needing attention
To meet and collaborate with a designated team teacher on an ongoing basis
To be responsible for providing course outlines based on curriculum levels and guidelines in the Teacher’s Manual developed for the Explore Program
To be responsible for recording daily lesson plans in course log books
To supervise, mark, and participate in the placement examination process on the first day of the program
To keep records of student attendance and grades, submit other administrative forms as required, and attend all scheduled staff meetings (1-2 per week) and a talent show (evening event)

Requirements:
Tesl Canada Certification (or equivalency)
Experience in teaching English as a Second Language
Dedicated, organized, dynamic professional committed to a team-teaching environment
Knowledge of current methods and approaches in second language instruction
Experience with teenagers
