This position is for an experienced professional with experience with medical data as well as formal training and/or practical experience in data analytics and informatics. The data expert will be responsible for clinical data analysis, understanding data loads, data relationships, data modeling, meta data dictionary creation, tool evaluation,
functional requirements, and will support the programming and development of early demonstration tools and methodologies. A background in informatics will be preferred.
Responsibilities and functions:
· Assist with Data Modeling
· Create and Manage Business Objects Universes
· Create and Maintain Business Objects Reports
· Assist with Design of Additional Reports
Additional high level functions:
· Develops and designs complex multi-tier web applications; determines project requirements and functional specifications to ensure that client specifications are met.
· Defines and approves application standards and specifications; provides oversight for definition of product content to ensure that appropriate parties are kept informed of client and company requirements and policies.
· Designs application modules that work together to produce desired product. Ensures that completed modules provide all functionality described by application experts to ensure that performance guidelines are met.
· Plans technical support infrastructure through the creation of service level agreements; leads the transition from application development to support to ensure that appropriate support is available to clients in a timely and efficient manner.
· Provides analysis and design reviews to other members in the department to avoid duplication of efforts in solving the same application problem with different products.
· Works with product development teams and senior designers on complex projects to develop architectural requirements to ensure client satisfaction with product. Works with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company's products.
· Acts a liaison between third party vendors and company to procure, develop and/or integrate their applications into company products to ensure that applications are in accordance with company product standards and guidelines.
· May provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
Required Skills:
· Familiarity with Healthcare Field a Plus
· 3-5 years Experience with Business Objects - preferably some experience with latest version (BusinessObjects XI v.3.0)
· Experience with using BusinessObjects with SQL Server and Oracle
Desired Skills
· Direct knowledge with clinical data, architecture, database management systems, query tools, controlled medical vocabularies, HL7 structure, terminology management tools, clinical and data algorithm development is preferred.
· Previous experience with clinical and research concepts, vocabulary services, and both Entity-Relational (ER) and Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) data modeling, and experience working with business intelligence or ETL tools will be considered an asset.
· An understanding of HIPAA, data privacy, identity management, auditing, access control issues will be desired.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and people management experience are required.
