Middle Market Underwriter
Arizona (Peoria)
This position requires five to ten years of progressive experience in commercial underwriting, including the line of business expertise necessary to profitably underwrite Middle Market (above $75,000 in premium) business. A college degree and/or formal insurance education are desired. The applicant should possess the following skill sets:
Ability to operate in a team environment to support all work that needs to be done to ensure financial performance measures are met or exceeded.
Underwriting and servicing medium to large size exposures and accounts.
Work with minimal supervision
Utilizes loss rating, large account rating and composite rating
tools for pricing business
Effective negotiation skills
Ability to work closely with claims, loss control, agents and insured’s to impact risk improvement, to build and maintain a positive working relationship with all and to articulate the issues on each account that impact the pricing, coverage and acceptability of each risk.
Provide guidance and technical assistance to others in the department, e.g. agency development, underwriting, etc.
