Job Description:
This position requires an incumbent with extensive open pit mining experience able to implement, expand and sustain a mining operation and maintenance function, according to sound mining practices and in line with Continous Business Improvement principles. The role carries full statutory responsibility and requires the effective management of labour, machinery, and inventory to achieve agreed business efficiencies and financial targets.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- B Degree or equivalent in Mining Engineering
- Open pit mining experience
- 10 to 15 years experience as Open pit Mining Manager or Quarry Manager
- Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and registration with ECSA will be an advantage
Key Performance Areas:
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Manage operational activities relating to ore extraction across the mine
- Manage the ore extraction integration into the mine expansion project
- Provide technical direction on operation on production related matters to minimize possible production risks
- Direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to mining standards, organisational standards and legislative requirements
- Set Production operational standards, specifications and service levels according to organisational objectives to ensure maximum operational effectiveness
- Perform Final Review and approvals or Audits on new mining designs according to the relevant design principles or theory
- Ensure adherence to the company's Safety, Health and Environmental management programmes and that objectives are implemented according to statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan
- Effectively lead a team of skilled people
