Paid Internship
Month 1-4 Preclinical phase - Lab Work
- cell-based and biochemical ass-ays in drug discovery (for diabetes, obesity)
- custom assay development (target binding assays, Elisa, enzymatic assays, transcription binding assyas, cell prolifereation assays)
- primary cell isolation and cell banking
- cell line development and engineering (including recombinant cell lines and monoclonal Antibody)
- Natural product testing for bioavailability, quality of extracts, biological profiling
- Mol Bio: c DNA and RNA isolation, plasmid prep, clonin/sub cloning, PCR amplification
- bioinformatics: pathway databases, microarrays
Month 5-9 Clinical Research
- understanding GCP guideline / ICH / IRB structure and reporting szstem / HIPAA compliance, FDA Regulations and Codes, IND/NDA submissions in USA and Canada
- responsibilities involved in the clinical trial. Clinical Study design, CRF design
- source deocuments, Inform Consent, starting a clinical trial, site selection, initiation, monitoring coordination
- safety in clinical tirals, inspection strategy for clinical trials, avoiding fraud in clinical trial, drug advertising
Month 10 - 14 QA (Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs)
- definitions, responsibility of quality functions
- Day to day operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, profile of a research and development (pre-GMP) company
- purpose of QA documentation, GLP, Bioresearch monitoring, GMP documentation/ICH/GMP guidance/HIPAA, documents
- overview of validation, general szstem and process validation, bulk drug manufacturing validation
- testing, documenation for release of materials
- physical test, Assays, Potency tests, Variation and error definitions
- sampling methods and application. Chemical handling and disposal
Month 15-18
