Intelligentsia has an offshore office located in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, a small mountainous country in Central Asia. Given that Tajikistan is among the poorest countries in the world, we have been in steady effort to bring clean drinking water to impoverished people there, raising awareness by educating locals as well as creating online based information resources for monitoring water related issues, bringing together decision makers from local government, businesses and international development organizations.
We have stepped up the challenge of creating universal water resources information website for Tajikistan. Organizing information, connecting involved professionals, monitoring in critical manner decisions and providing summaries of related news are just few objectives of this website.
This assignment is NOT located in Florida, but in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Occasionally harsh conditions associated to living in developing nation must be considered, however this is what one expects if preparing for development sector career.
List of main tasks (students are based in Tajikistan):
- Study from online and offline resources information related to water development issues in Tajikistan and Central Asia region;
- Develop appropriate background to understand these issues not only from technical, but also political and economical perspectives;
- Monitor on daily basis various informational resources;
- Publish online summarized information in organized manner
- Conduct active networking with water development key-players;
- Attend related meetings, deliver presentations to interested partners;
- Coordinate communication between Florida based and Tajikistan based team members;
- Manage related databases, improve existing websites from technical perspective;
- Create and publish engineering manuals related to water systems;
- Experience living conditions in developing nation.
