Established Jinzhou Language School looking for English teachers

Jinzhou city is located in Liaoning Province, 6 hours north east of Beijing and three hours south of provincial capital and 5th largest city in China, Shenyang. The city and surrounding area has historic importance and many cultural sites to visit. The city itself is currently being developed with a lot more emphasis on green spaces and the pace of life is much slower, and friendlier than its bigger neighbours .The cost of living is also extremely low and foreign teachers can expect to have a good standard of living. Jinzhou is centrally located within Liaoning province and visits to the Imperial palace at Shenyang and the Great Wall at Shanhaiguan are only not only cheap but less than 3 hours travel away.
Due to continuing expansion, our centre is initially looking for two full time native teachers to join its small team as soon as possible. We have already established a good name in the city and would therefore welcome applications from professional and dedicated teachers, although experience is secondary to willingness to learn quickly and enthusiasm. Full training will be provided by current western teachers. All teachers will be expected to help develop materials for the school. We encourage active participation from all teachers and are a team-orientated community.
In return for your hard work and commitment we offer the following:
Salary: Incremental salary starting from 5000 rmb rising to 6000 rmb per calendar month. (Possibly negotiable depending on previous experience.) *
Flights: return flights paid from home country (please request details)
Paperwork: As we are legally allowed to employ foreign teachers, all legal paperwork is provided.
Holidays: 10 working days paid holiday, as well as paid Chinese national holidays (approx 3 weeks).
Housing: Free shared accommodation is provided though there is an option for single accommodation (again, please request details). Current staff enjoy secure 2/3 bedroom, fully furnished and serviced accommodation including kitchen, western style bathroom, TV and all other modern conveniences.

We are ideally looking for people who can commit to a 12-month contract, although the school may be willing to negotiate shorter term contracts.
Ideally, applicants will hold a University degree, but the school will also consider applications from people holding TEFL qualifications or those with relevant experience.
The work:
We are a busy centre so our teachers work full time. This means a five day, 40 hour, working week with two days off. We have non-peak and peak seasons. Non-peak includes up to 30 ach (20 real hours) contact teaching hours per week. In reality, teachers contact hours are usually 20 real hours per week. Contact hours do sometimes rise to 26 real hours during the peak times of January, February, June, July and August. Even though we do have some offsite teaching at a local high school, our school is very much orientated towards young learners so please be honest with yourself and us. If you have any worries about teaching children then this is not the position for you. Outside of contact hours all or teachers are onsite, preparing for lessons, doing placement tests, developing materials, attending meetings and doing the things you would expect to do as a real teacher for the remaining 20 hours of the week. All teachers are assigned a Chinese assistant teacher from the onset to help with translation, discipline and other administrative tasks. Please don’t worry of you cannot speak Chinese as this is why Chinese assistants are provided.
So, if you are serious about teaching, have a good attitude to life and can work easily with others then this might be the position for you! Remember, a good attitude will overcome a lack of experience!
All prospective applicants will be assigned a current western teacher to answer relevant questions about workload, pay, conditions and standard of living.
As an indication of cost of living and general prices in the Jinzhou area, we have prepared the following list of essential everyday expenses:
Taxi to school – 6 RMB
Coca Cola 600ml – 2.5 RMB
Bottled Water – 1 RMB
Bottle local beer 600ml – 2.5 RMB
Loaf of Bread – 4 RMB
Average cost of eating out – 10 RMB to 40 RMB
Gym Membership – 50 RMB per month
Internet Services – 400 RMB per year
Lunch – 5 RMB
Transport to local tourist amenities – 18 RMB to 60 RMB
Western DVDs – 5 RMB
Although Jinzhou is a traditional Chinese city, some western luxuries are available.
