Project Manager - Research Assistant: “On Ramps to Postsecondary”
The Connected by 25 Group at Jobs for the Future is building an exciting and substantially new body of work focused on improving postsecondary outcomes for off-track and out-of-school youth. A key strategy of this work is to develop and scale-up new pathways to postsecondary and career success for young people who have either dropped out of high school without a credential or have a diploma or GED but are not ready for college or career.
Jobs for the Future seeks a candidate for this position to assist senior staff in:
identifying, documenting and codifying best-in-class examples of GED to College and employer-linked education and apprenticeship programming for low-income, and out-of-school young adults as tools to use in spreading best practice; and 2) managing a multi-year initiative supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to build capacity in the education, youth development and workforce development fields to offer such programming.
The Project Manager/Research Assistant must be a highly organized person with strong research, writing, and technology skills and be capable of working collaboratively with an experienced team of professionals.
Responsibilities:
• Support field scanning/mapping/research components of the project by gathering, organizing/ synthesizing existing research, identifying key informants, etc.
• Support site visits and documentation through timely provision of support/briefing materials as well as logistical assistance
• Develop and maintain a data-base and knowledge management/accessibility across all aspects of the project
• Assist in development of briefs and other products drawing from documentation and research work
• Assist in design/development/ongoing updating of webinar materials, powerpoints, and other technology and web-based sharing strategies
• Support PD in coordinating/convening leadership group and cross-network topical workgroups, and organize and assist in preparation of materials for these meetings, as well as for workshops at each USSI network
• Keep track of work flow/timeline/budget across the three major components of the project
• Coordinate project team with communications staff and consultants
Qualifications
• Experience conducting research scans/synthesis
• Strong qualitative research skills and some experience with field-based research and documentation
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Computer skills, especially skills in developing web-based communication
• Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to organize and process work under tight deadlines
• Masters degree a plus
