Position Title: Technical Sales/Service Representative
Reports To: Region Vp
Department: Sales/Technical
Business Unit: Marine
Location: Panama
1. Basic purpose and objective of the position: this position encompasses the combination of selling marine products and providing technical service as required in the field.
Essential Functions:
A Direct contact with owners, yards and other buying parties to inform them of our products.
B Manages inventory at yards.
C Estimates and orders materials for drydocks.
D Maintain records of the application of company products. This includes day to day climate/conditions as well as surface preparation information.
E Perform quality checks of surface preparation, and the application steps in the painting process.
F Reads gauges Advise customers as to what a painting job will require (i.E. Equipment, climate conditions, required personal protective equipment, etc.) May occasionally demonstrate use of application equipment.
G When conditions are not within company specifications advises customer/applicator and immediate supervisor.
H. Lifts 100 pounds
I. Assist customers/applicators in the proper application of coatings and paint systems in accordance with company specifications.
General requirements
- Posses selling and negotiating skills.
- Understands marine industry practices
- Knows coating application Ability to apply principles of observation, logical, or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Additional requirements
- Reads and writes English Read: newspapers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, encyclopedias, safety rules.
- Reads and writes Spanish.
- Computer literate in MicroSoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Must work with owner and applicators, keeping objectivity.
- Interactions Inside and Outside the Company: Most frequent contacts in and outside the Company and the reasons for these contacts.
- Works with labor, supervisors, and owners. Works with sales manager, other sales persons, and IP technical staff and laboratory personnel.
- Must know environmental safety issues.
- Works independently frequently to manage time and projects. Must understand and follow company policy manual. Understands and follows technical manual.
- Works directly for local sales team.
8. Dimensions: Summarize the quantitative data that will give a clear picture of the size of the operation this position runs or influences. .

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Computer Literate in Mircrosoft office, excel, word, powerpoint.
1-2 years sales experience.
Knowledge of boats, shipyards, and marine equipment a plus. |
