Main Purpose:
To provide safe, high quality education and care for nursery and pre school children; to fulfil legal and statutory requirements; to supervise staff on a day to day basis; to contribute and implement nursery and pre-school policies.
Main activities:
- To ensure the national standards for childcare are met.
- To take responsibility for drawing up long term, medium term and sessional curriculum plans which ensure that each child is working towards early learning goals’ learning outcomes; to monitor the effectiveness of the pre-school curriculum.
- To be responsible for providing a high quality of teaching, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
- To ensure that outcomes for all children are promoted under the Swedish curriculum.
- To draw up and to supervise the daily programme of the nursery and pre-school activities and events.
- To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record-keeping that children’s attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; to monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures.
- To organise the keyworker system and to effectively supervise staff on a daily basis; to be responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching; to participate in staff appraisals and to identify in-service training needs.
- To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book.
- To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
- To work in partnership with the swedish preschools
- To ensure that the pre-school is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practised.
- To contribute to and to implement all pre-school policies and procedures, especially those on equal opportunities and confidentiality.
- To attend in-service training and meetings as required, and occasionally being able to travel to other countries

| Habilidades: |
Childcare qualification – NNEB or equivalent, BTEC National in Nursery Nursing, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education, DCE in Early Years and Childcare, CACHE Level III Certificate in Pre-School Practice, a minimum of 1-2 years’ recent experience of working with nursery and pre-school children.
Management qualification- You will have the ability to lead the pre-school team in the day-to-day routine of the group, effective communication and motivating skills, a real desire, and the capability, to achieve the highest standards in childcare and have enthusiasm and commitment. |
