B.Sc. in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
Eight (8 ) years preferably in large scale building construction and hi-rise building projects
Professional knowledge in local building codes and ordinances pertaining to construction. Professional knowledge in building codes and standards such as BS, UBC and IBC. Professional knowledge in the design of various MEP Systems. Professional knowledge in safety and accessibility standards. Professional knowledge in construction methods and procedures. Knowledge in materials used in construction and available in the market
Systematic thinking and analytical skills, Decision making and problem solving abilities, Follow-up and monitoring skills, Planning and organizing skills, Ability to perform Risk Analysis, Coordination Skills, Dependability and Good Computer Skills.
Providing technical support to the design of MEP requirements and related calculations, evaluating tenders and designs and specifying requirements of materials to be used in construction in alignment with the specified standards and building codes, in addition to approving sub contractors work and supervising staff and projects` progress to ensure that all activities are being run in compliance with specifications and contractual requirements. Participating in implementing and transforming policies, goals and plans into medium and short-term plans to ensure internal work development and productivity increase. Participating in the development of the section’s work plan; distributing and following-up on work activities, projects and programs, monitoring work flow and reviewing work methods and procedures. Suggesting plans and programs that strive to boost the effectiveness of the section. Follow-up the progress of construction of works & compliance with construction schedule, drawings & material submittals & approval.
Review & study the technical submittal & shop drawings received from MEP sub-contractors, any comments to be sent immediately prior to submission to consultant for approval. Attending site technical meetings and facilitating solutions to technical problems in a timely and professional manner. Evaluating and approving projects` material, technical specifications and related calculations, and specifying requirements of materials and structural elements. Overseeing the design of different structural elements and ensuring that it complies with contract requirements and operational and safety standards and regulations. Producing, checking and reviewing the design of detailed shop drawings, specifications, material description and software used prior to construction. Review the received daily work reports from sub-contractor and to compare the contents with actual executed works at site. Providing project-site support and communicating with projects staff to clarify details and discuss modifications when required. Review the manpower and construction equipment daily report received from sub-contractor to verify it match with submitted organization chart and to be sure from available tools & equipment are enough to execute the work. Follow up the quality control & inspection of executed work and received materials on site and to be sure it is complying with approved technical submittals and specification. Preparing periodic reports with respect to the section’s activities and achievements to be submitted to the MEP Section Head. Nominating a deputy to carry out the responsibility of the position whenever the need arises. Performing other duties related to the job as assigned by the MEP Section Head.
