Job Description: This position exists to support the organization’s networked information systems and related equipment. This position performs upgrades and maintenance on all network systems. He or she is also responsible for participating in the design, deployment, and maintenance of network systems, web services, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, routers, etc. This position is cross-trained to support most other IT Operations services.
Duties and Responsibilities: This person will lead network technical projects; design network technical solutions; and work closely with and support network administration and help desk staff. He or she will also act as escalation support for help desk issues and participate in all system-related design and deployment projects, including software and back-office system upgrades and management system implementations, etc. This person will assist senior-level technical staff with planning initiatives, and be able to identify long-term affects of changes, upgrade paths and other technical plans.
Moreover, this person will maintain organizational security safeguards, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, integrity systems, anti-virus management and others under the direction of senior-level engineering staff and/or the Director, IT Operations.
In addition, this person will act as a liaison to IS for application-related development and support activities. This includes assisting in application deployments, troubleshooting, solutions development and support.
Qualifications: Typical minimum experience is 5 or more years of documented systems administration/engineering experience in the area of design, installation and/or test of scalable and distributed systems.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with 5 years of professional experience; or two years of trade school, or associate degree in MIS or related discipline with 7-10 years professional experience. Formal network training (i.E. MCSE)

Extensive experience with IIS 5/6, MS SQL, and web application environments in general
Extensive experience with Windows 2000/2003
Working knowledge of Citrix
Working knowledge of VMware
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, FTP
Working knowledge of networking components (Routers, switches, RAS)
Working knowledge of networking protocols and equipment, data communication and encryption techniques and methodologies, operating systems, network design and security, and monitoring/management tools
Experience working with firewall technologies
Familiarity with Security, Intrusion Detection, and Disaster recovery strategies
Some experience configuring Cisco FW solutions
Familiarity with SQL database management
This person should be a highly motivated self-starter who can work within a team environment to meet project objectives. Team Lead skills, good documentation skills, excellent interpersonal skills and operations capability are a must. This person should demonstrate the ability to independently work with internal and external customers and also be able to learn new skills and adapt quickly.
