Power Engineer
Location : Kabul, Afghanistan
Job Description
Design, plan, construct, inspect and test Power Systems (UPS and Power Conditioning) as well as cable routes for permanent bases and tactical locations.
Be conversant with EIA/TIA standards
Operate electrical test equipment.
Oversee Installation, Termination, Splicing and Maintenance of electrical systems; including mentoring of local nationals in proper techniques, standards and practices.
Job Details
• Report directly to the Implementations Manager of the International Project Team
• Designing and engineering electrical plant: planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of power facilities.
• Strong knowledge in power conditioning such as UPSes and Voltage Stabilisers. Specific knowledge and experience with MGE, APC, and ORTEA systems desired.
• Basic knowledge of generator system troubleshooting.
• Selecting routing of lines and equipment required for work projects. Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings, estimates equipment, labour, and material costs.
• Initiating work authorization request and submitting request with substantiating drawings and documents to Implementation management for approval.
• Ordering materials and equipment required, and directing work activities to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and work authorization.
• Individual will be key in the management and development of locally-hired personnel in standards and practices.
• Ensure data accuracy for as-built documentation.

| Habilidades: |
Required Qualifications:
• More than two years’ experience in power plant design is preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical standards, to include international colour codes and load calculation.
• At least five years’ experience with basic cable termination and management.
• Knowledge of engineering, construction and safety standards and regulations applicable to Electrical Engineering and Construction
• Knowledge of accepted engineering standards and practices to provision the network.
• Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements and a strong understanding of their associated inter-workings.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Afghanistan
• Minimum of Grade 12; graduate of post-secondary education in Telephony, Networking, or Engineering would be considered a definite asset
• Demonstrated effective decision-making skills.
• Self-motivated, works well with minimal supervision and is able to supervise and train others.
• Demonstrated professional oral and written English communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to cope with a variety of projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, taking appropriate action.
• Maintain high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast paced changing environment
• Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
• Proficient using MS Office applications.
