 The Compensation $88kBenefits - Full Relocation Assistance Available - Yes Commission Compensation - No Bonus Eligible - No Overtime Eligible - No Interview Travel Reimbursed - No Detailed Description Fire Protection Products is searching for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to be located at the R&D facility in Westminster, MA. This position is responsible for developing Fire Alarm and Nurse Call products as well as supporting existing product lines. This is a hands-on position that works directly with tooling and prototype suppliers, manufacturing, sales and marketing teams. Responsibilities: Develop next generation notification appliances and sheet metal enclosures. Design innovative products with a focus on manufacturability and serviceability. Prove concepts through team review, rapid prototyping, soft tooling, and production launch. Provide creative solutions to problems that arise during new product development. Participate in peer design reviews to ensure best design practices are followed. Lead improvement efforts on existing products and provide technical support to sales team, marketing, and customers. Follow Tyco Fire Protection Products documentation process as it applies to manufacturing requirements as well as purchased materials. Initiate and execute ECOs according to a standard procedure. Assume mechanical project responsibility and provide oversight to detail drafters. The ideal candidate will have the following: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME preferred). Minimum 5 years related work experience in a fast paced environment. Experience with injection molding, plastic part, and assembly design. Experience with sheet metal enclosure/electronic packaging design. Strong knowledge about engineered resins, metal finishes and platings. Competent with Pro/E Wildfire 4.0 (Pro/INTRALINK a plus). Experience with offshore tooling suppliers and production facilities. Strong organizational skills with a focus on short and long term deliverables. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable working in a cross functional team environment. Understands agency certification requirements (UL, ULC, CE, CSFM, CSA, FCC).
