Experienced Cancer patient pathway coordinators are invited to apply for this positions at a Children’s Hospital in Doha, Qatar. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to submit CV’s ASAP!POSITION SUMMARY: The Cancer Patient Pathway Coordinator is directly accountable the Clinical Nurse Specialist and has program accountability to the to the Tumour Board Lead. The Cancer Patient Pathway Coordinator is responsible for being the patient’s advocate during their entire pathway of care, at all stages of their disease from suspicion of cancer to diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Activities include: providing counselling, education, support and advice to patients and their families and carers. In addition to patient duties the post has a quality and service improvement dimension. The post-holder will be required to apply service improvement tools and techniques to improve the patient pathway in line with the recommendations from the National Cancer Strategy, and to contribute to clinical audit. The post holder must critically think in variable situations within clearly defined policies, principles, and leadership direction with multiple healthcare stakeholders across the care delivery system. Given the interface demanded by this role with both clinicians and patients, it is essential that the post-holder is a clinical professional, from a nursing, medical or allied healthcare professional background, possessing knowledge of the clinical pathways, medical terminology, and multidisciplinary clinical providers to which they are assigned and experience of coordinating the related clinical requirements of the patient pathway. | Skills / Industry Qualifications Required: | EDUCATION: Minimum a BSc Nursing degree or Medical degree OR Diploma in nursing with more than 5 years oncology experience. Masters degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred. Clinical license and registration. EXPERIENCE: Minimum at least 1 year working coordinating clinical pathways, and providing advice, support and counseling to patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer, their families and caregivers. Preferred 2 years. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual English and Arabic. |
