Students of our Full Time Actor Training course will engage in an intensive, two year regime of physical, emotional and intellectual training, a wholesale cultivation of the skills demanded of a fully rounded actor. Drawing upon a range of 20th Century schools of practice, students are given the opportunity to build a personal technique through an array of core courses.
Our part time actor training courses are split into 3 levels, and can be taken in sequence to form a 3 year part time course. These courses represent our part time school at its most advanced level, and are targeted at adult students who are committed to the pursuit of excellence in the field of acting.
Our short term adult part time courses range from a 10 week Introduction to Drama course, to weekend workshops in Musical Theatre, 8 week Acting for Camera courses, Stage Combat and lots more. These courses are designed to be fun and sociable, while at the same time building up the skills required to go on to further training.
We offer 3 different courses for international students: The Irish Theatre Summer School & The Irish Theatre January Term, which both focus on studying Irish writers for performance along with a programme of cultural outings. The Original Theatre Project is a process in which a commissioned writer and director will work with your students in both Ireland and in your home university to develop and stge an original piece of theatre.
Our Young Gaiety courses start as young as 18 months, with our Parent & Toddler drama classes, and cater for students up to 19 years of age. The classes are designed to promote confidence and creativity, through improvised games and exercises, group work and the development of scenes. As a students prgresses, there are levels to follow and new skills will begin to be introduced, gradually building up the foundations of an actor. Our Youth Theare courses, for 16 to 19 year olds, focus on using drama as a medium to reflect and respond to young people's lives. There is a Youth Theatre Company for advanced students, in which the students stage a full production at the end of the year.
