THE PRE-SCHOOL CHILD (3yrs to 5yrs)
The preschool child eagerly pursues autonomy: they are ready to develop large muscles skills like jumping and skipping. Also, small motor skills like pinching and grasping which will be necessary for using a pencil and scissors.
Preschool children are happy with their increasing ability to communicate with adults as well as their peers. They have a great need to learn and are constantly asking questions.
Children at this age are beginning to learn cooperative play and sharing with others. The 3 to 5 yr old are becoming more and more independent and self reliant.
It is our goal at HAPPY HIPPO to provide opportunities for the preschool child to:
* Use both large and small muscles
* Increase and expand their language
* Help them discover the answer to their many questions
* Play cooperative games
* Gain self help skills
* Instill all the fundamentals necessary for their success in School

School-aged children seem to have a steadier pace of growing and learning. Children at this age are interested in real-life tasks and activities, they want to make “real” jewelry or take “real” pictures. School age children are more likely to stick with things until the project is finished, problem solved arguments resolved. Doing things with friends, teamwork and following rules are very important. At this age it is more important to gain acceptance and experience achievement. At HAPPY HIPPO we will promote the development of your school-aged child by offering activities in the following areas:
