Bay Area Makeup Prosthetics (BAMP) in San Jose, California, is a special effects makeup school offering a 6 week workshop designed for students who want to develop solid skills in creating prosthetics, make-up and Creature FX for TV and Film. You will learn techniques that are used by an award winning special FX artist in Hollywood. Our makeup prosthetic course is structured to deliver a comprehensive and rich training in the basic disciplines of special effects and is designed to be flexible as it progresses, allowing each participant the freedom to select further content that they would like to incorporate into their studies through their personal projects. During the last week (6th week) your makeup creation will be filmed.

Six Week Makeup Prosthetics Workshop - Topics include:
-Body casting
-Appliance sculpting
-Character design
-Sculpting character
-Mold making
-Prosthetic appliance application and finishing (gelatin and encapsulated silicone prosthetics)

Personal Project:
Your course will culminate in a final project of your choice. Whether this is a major silicone gel prosthetic or realistic silicone severed head for example, you’ll plan and develop this project through the first three weeks of your course, and work full time on it for the remaining two weeks, supported throughout by our tutors. In creating your own personal project allows you to explore the particular materials and techniques which are important to you, you will also be able to observe the other students’ projects develop and therefore gain an insight into the elements they have chosen to pursue as well.
