 Crete:

Crete, the birthplace of European Civilization, is an extremely attractive tourism destination. With a population of over 700,000, the most dynamic sector of the Cretan economy is tourism. Its remarkable tourist resorts attract more than two million visitors every year.

The climate is mild, the sun shines over 315 days a year and the island is blessed with a unique natural landscape and a rich cultural heritage.

Strong family and community ties and a very friendly atmosphere make Crete an ideal living environment. Crete has a longstanding tradition in hospitality and many years of experience in the tourism industry.

Crete is known globally for a number of products such as olives, olive oil, wine, fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, herbs, and raisins. The island has a long history that goes back to Neolithic times; however, it is perhaps most known for the Minoan civilization that flourished there from 2600 to 1100 BC. The island is full of relics of the Minoan ages - the most famous being the palaces at Knossos and Festos.

Limin Hersonissos is located 26 km East of Heraklion on the road to Agios Nikolaos. The town was first built during Minoan times and experienced great prosperity during the Roman and Byzantine periods. Today, Hersonissos is considered to be the most developed tourism destination in Crete, attracting visitors from all over the world.
