"Nimbus is more than just a school. It is a philosophy, an attitude, a way of life. While my instructors taught me invaluable lessons about recording techniques and technology, they went far beyond all that. My experience there has made me not only a better engineer, but a better person as well!"
- Owen, Alumnus
"Nimbus feels like home. There really is no other place like it. If your dreams are in the music and recording industry, your money will be wasted going elsewhere. Nimbus is the future of music. Fact."
- Nolan, Alumnus
"Simply put, Nimbus prepared me for the professional world of engineering by giving me the skills and having the right tools to work with, and I received an internship at the Armoury Studios upon graduation. Without them, this would've never been possible."
- Matt, Alumnus
Bob Ezrin is one of the most influential producers of all time with a successful career spanning 35 years, crosses all genres of music and continues to evolve to this day. Called “the Producer’s Producer,” the arc of his career reads like the progression of popular entertainment.
He has produced, mixed and played on legendary albums for some of the world's leading artists including: Alice Cooper, KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Roberta Flack, Peter Gabriel, Rod Stewart, Hanoi Rocks, Nine Inch Nails, The Jayhawks, Kurupt, Jane’s Addiction and The Darkness. One of his most noteworthy productions is Pink Floyd’s “The Wall,” a masterpiece that is often credited as one of the greatest albums of all time. In April 2004, Bob Ezrin was inducted by CARAS into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Garth Richardson started in 1973 at his father’s studio, Nimbus 9 as a second engineer on Bob Seger’s legendary “Night Moves.” Garth moved on to work with numerous artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, and Alice Cooper. With the debut record with Rage Against the Machine, Garth earned a Grammy nomination and secured his place as a serious record producer.
Since then, Garth has worked with acts such as 54-40, Trapt, Mudvayne, Down the Sun, Kittie, Boy Hits Car in LA, Hedley, Bloodsimple, From Autumn to Ashes, Autovein, Rise Against, and Biffy Clyro. Garth received his third Juno nomination in 2005 in the category of Jack Richardson Producer of the Year, for his work with the Canadian band Hedley. In 1996, Garth won the Juno for his work with the Melvins and Jesus Lizard.

Since then it has become arguably the most complete and respected Recording Arts teaching model in the industry and is the foundation for the Nimbus Recording Program. In 2000 the AEP Program was the first Recording Arts program to become locally accredited by PCTIA. In 2004, Kevin was appointed to the PCTIA Board by the Min of Advanced Education Ida Chong. Later in 2007, Kevin was elected Chairman of the PCTIA board.
Where does “Nimbus” come from? The Nimbus name is a tribute to the famous production company Nimbus 9 and its co-founder Jack Richardson, who is a Juno Award-winning Canadian record producer, Canadian Music Hall of Famer, Order of Canada recipient and so-called “Godfather” of the Canadian music business.
Jack was the producer behind the Guess Who at a time when they were the best selling rock group in the world. From the early 1970s on, Richardson produced many of the biggest selling records of the era. Alice Cooper, Bob Seger's Night Moves, Badfinger, Moxy, Poco, The Irish Rovers, Max Webster and many others. The Juno Award for Producer of the Year has been named in his honour since 2002. Jack Richardson is the father of Nimbus director Garth Richardson and former business partner of and mentor to Nimbus director Bob Ezrin.
