ESL English Classes in Toronto, Canada

Chelsea Language Academy, Toronto:
Welcome to Chelsea Language Academy located in Toronto, Ontario in Western Canada where realistic outdoor learning experiences (teacher guided) are the norm. This is an important distinguishing feature of Chelsea Language Academy. Indeed, compared to other language schools, a lot more of Chelsea's classes take place outside the classroom in real-world settings where English is most naturally used. This makes learning the language a lot more fun and more effective. Chelsea Language Academy is authorized by the Government of Ontario to provide adult ESL instruction. Chelsea Language Academy is a fast growing English school. It was originally founded in 1993 in Tokyo by Robbie McMullan. Mr. McMullan is a highly experienced language teacher, writer and alumnus of Harvard University. He created a revolutionary system that quickened language learning. This system has been featured in the Yomiuri Shimbun, the world's largest newspaper. Mr. McMullan remains as principal of the school today.

 Why Chelsea:

Why ChelseaSome students may feel they get little personal attention at some big chain schools. In contrast, Chelsea is a premium mid-size school with a few big ideas:

* Build a solid student-teacher relationship
* Help students to be less shy in class
* Offer customized programs based on each class's and each student's unique character and needs; and lastly
* Employ ONLY the best teachers and staff. Indeed, among Canadian language schools, apparently only Chelsea requires all the following teacher qualifications: Professional teaching certification; background check; high IQ, personality and grammar test scores; second-generation native English speaking backgrounds; good grades in a relevant degree program at a prestigious university; and a record of popularity among former students

A different approach to teaching English:

Chelsea was founded on two observations about some other language schools:

1. Their ESL students don't usually get enough real practice time, and
2. Little time is spent developing students' comfort with teachers. So, they can't overcome their fear of making mistakes.

Thus, Chelsea's main programs begin with one full week of exercises that build trust between teacher and pupil, and among classmates. This builds the foundation for more rapid learning later. Chelsea's curriculum then continues with much more practice time than other schools.

 Programs:

ESL Programs. With the use of the revolutionary system that quickens language learning, a system created by our principal Mr. McMullan (a highly experienced language teacher, writer and alumnus of Harvard University) students receive high quality and practical training in English.

 Toronto:

TorontoAccording to The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD): Ontario, which is centered around Toronto, is the most educated province or state in the world! This area thus provides a first-rate group of potential friends, business contacts and educators for students.

Toronto is also the economic heart of Canada and a major English center. It's heaven for food lovers, too, with the highest ratio of restaurants to people of any big city in North America. The city has also been described as Canada's version of New York, without its level of violence and visa problems. And like New York, Toronto has 24-hour public transportation and great shopping. Sports fans will like that it has more pro teams than other Canadian cities. And, Toronto is much more culturally diverse than Vancouver. It's also only hours away from New York and Montreal by bus or train.

Lastly, Toronto's four distinct seasons are certainly better than the weather of Vancouver where it often rains non-stop for 3 weeks in a row. Even Toronto's winters are mild compared to those of Ottawa, Montreal and Calgary. Anyway, when it's cold students can always walk in the Underground City, which has 27 km of tunnels for walking and shopping (it's in The Guinness Book of World Records).

Shopping in Toronto is absolutely fantastic: from Yorkville where the movie stars come to shop, to the coolest market ever, called Kensington Market. Toronto's larger population also means that more of the world's famous musicians and theatre groups visit Toronto (third-largest English language theatre scene in the world). If you like live theatre and concerts there is no better place in Canada than Toronto. The museums and architecture of Toronto are also worldclass (The R.O.M. and AGO)

Toronto is home to the western word's tallest free standing structure, the CN Tower. From atop the tower, there may be no better view in the world. Niagara Falls, one of the 7 wonders of the world, is only 1.5 hours away by bus or car.
