Pupils at Park Lane prepare for SATs and at the secondary-level will sit the British IGCSE exams. Nessie Preschool:
Nessie English Preschool is proud to be a part of
the Park Lane International School. We have two very successful preschools located at Nad Bertramkou in Smíchov and at Park Lane in Střešovice. If you have a child of preschool age, please visit the Nessie English Preschool webpage for more information about our school and our educational programme.
What is the NESSIE Foundation Stage?
The Nessie Foundation Stage is designed for children from age 2 to 5. It starts at Pinkies (ages 2-3) and ends in the Reception year (ages 4-5). Teachers help guide children toward the early learning goals through play and hands-on learning activities where they further their understanding byplaying, talking, observing, planning, questioning, experimenting, testing, repeating, reflecting and responding to adults and to each other.
We are also very proud of our Czech programme, which is introduced in Reception year for both native Czech speakers and non-native Czech speakers. Children are introduced not only to the language but also to the culture and history of their country. The Nessie Foundation Stage prepares children for further education, whether in Year 1 at Park Lane or in the Czech national school system.
Primary School:
At Park Lane Primary School, we currently offer Reception and Year 1 for children aged 4-6 but in September 2009, we will open the remaining year groups for children up to the age of 11. We embrace children of all nationalities and currently have pupils and staff from around the world: Britain, France, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Finland, the United States and the Czech Republic are just a few of the countries represented in our school community.
At Park Lane International School, dedicated staff members are qualified and experienced native English-speaking teachers who have taught in international schools around the world. While we follow the English National Curriculum, your child is not required to have prior knowledge of English as our
teachers are experienced and trained to help children of all language levels to access the curriculum and be confident and successful learners.
Children who enter Park Lane Primary School with no previous knowledge of English benefit from an intensive immersion programme that runs from September to December. The children receive additional support and learning during Literacy in order to boost their vocabulary and language acquisition.
Secondary School:
Park Lane International School strives for excellence in education. We are pleased to announce the expansion of Park Lane International School in September 2010. In two years, Park Lane will include a Secondary school from Years 7 to 11.
Secondary students at Park Lane will sit the British IGCSE exams, which are internationally recognised exit exams. A quality Czech programme will allow Czech pupils to meet the requirements of the Czech exit exam.
Our graduates will leave our school confident in the quality of their education, ready for post-secondary studies and secure in the knowledge that they are prepared for the jobs of the future!
Czech Programme:
We are very proud of our Czech programme, which begins in Reception for both native Czech speakers and non-native Czech speakers. Children are introduced not only to the language but also to the culture and history of their country. Czech children have to be enrolled in one of the local basic schools so that they can take the Czech early language exam and, in higher grades, the national history and geography exams.
