Beginners Dutch Course:
In this beginners course, students are taught to communicate effectively in Dutch within three months. Dutch is spoken in class from the very first lesson, although some points of grammar may be explained in English to save time.  Reading and writing are taught by means of practical homework.  After the course, students will have dealt with the whole elementary Dutch grammar and be able to make practical inquiries, give directions, talk about their work, background interests, etc.

Intermediate DuDutch Language Schools / Classestch Course:
Those who have a basic knowledge of Dutch grammar and a passive vocabulary of about a 1000 words are ready to start an intermediate course. Students who attended a beginners course at another institute will have to make an appointment for a short oral test (free of charge).  The intermediate course consists of a one-hour introductory lesson and twelve weekly lessons of two hours. In the first hour of a lesson we concentrate on grammar and look at the homework. In the second hour we concentrate on conversation. Subjects range from prepared presentations to improvised role play.  For participants who would like to take the NT2 exam programme 1, the course book contains an NT2 supplement with additional information.

Advanced Dutch Course:
The advanced course consists of a one-hour introductory lesson and twelve weekly lessons of 1½ hours. In the first half of a lesson we look at the exercises from the course book. In the second half we concentrate on conversation.  In an introductory session students can make their special wishes known.

Intensive Beginners course A & B:
The complete beginners course can be done in two separate blocks of one week (Beginners A and Beginners B). Although we use the same Home in on Holland coursebook as in our regular three months' course, the intensive blocks have a totally different format. Each block consists of five days with 6 hours of tuition (Monday to Friday, 4 lessons of 1,5 hours per day). The first lesson always concentrates on conversation whereas in every second lesson the grammar is dealt with by means of the exercises from the course book. During the course some time is devoted to different aspects of Dutch society and culture.

Intensive Intermediate course A & B:
The intensDutch Language Schools / Classesive intermediate course, like the intensive beginners course, consists of two blocks of one week (Intermediate A and Intermediate B). There are two lessons of one and a half hours per day. Students are expected to spend about five hours on the exercises from the course book per day. In the first lesson, we concentrate on grammar and look at the assignments that had to be prepared for the lesson. In the second lesson, we concentrate on conversation. Subjects range from prepared presentations to improvised role play. The intermediate Course Book should be collected at our institute about a week before the first day of the course. Exercises from Chapter 1 and half of Chapter 2 should be finished before coming to the first lesson. For participants who would like to take NT2 exam programme 1 the course book contains an NT2 supplement with additional information.

Course NT2 Programme 2:
For those who have finished the advanced course and want to go to the top, it is possible to "finish the job" by attending the NT2-II course. This will prepare students for the programme 2 level of the Dutch as a Second Language examination.

In-Company Course:
Direct Dutch sets up Business Courses to accommodate companies which prefer to have Dutch lessons on site. Companies can suggest adaptations to the programme, the size of the groups, the frequency of the lessons and their length to suit the needs and requirements of the employees. This enables busy business men and women interested in learning something about the Dutch language and culture to enrol, enjoy and succesfully complete our courses.
