Why study in Pisa:
Pisa has a stimulating cultural and social life, enlivened by the activities of many cultural and political associations of various orientations, which provide many opportunities for exchange, learning and friendship.
Pisa has an excellent geographical position for getting to know central Italy, being situated an hour by train from Florence, half an hour from Lucca and Leghorn and 30 minutes by bus from the coast. The Migliarino San Rossore Nature Reserve is close by; and little further, the Apuan Alps offer mountain enthusiasts the possibility of long walks and spectacular views.
Pisa has a typically Mediterranean climate and the sea's vicinity has the beneficial effects of ensuring mild winters and not too torrid summers.
Pisa can be said to be a city on a student-scale. The 50.000 students enrolled at the University, forming a significant proportion of Pisa's 90.000 inhabitants, are a particularly visible presence in the streets of the city-centre, with its numerous world famous monuments such as the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli.
It is right here, in the heart of Pisa, that the structures of the University's 11 Faculties and 56 Departments are concentrated. There is little distance to cover; hence, the most common means of transport is without doubt the bicycle.
Language Courses:The Interdepartmental Language Centre of the University organises group language courses for all levels, and provides study materials and advice for independent, individual learning. The Italian courses are free for Socrates programme students.
MBA Program:The University of Pisa MBA is a 12 month full-time programme running from January to December 2010.
The programme is articulated in three terms. The first term (Jan.- Apr. 2010) is dedicated to the fundamental knowledge of the Business Administration. The second term (May-Sept. 2010) comprises the specialised modules: Human Capital Management, Management Control, Marketing Management, Auditing & Governance, Strategy and Doing Business in Emerging Economies. The third term is dedicated to the internship in a company and to the project work (Oct.-Dec. 2010).
The goal of programme, entirely held in English, is to acquire managerial skills and to develop professional and personal competences in business administration.
The Faculty is composed of prominent academic professors and lecturers from the top Universities and Business Schools. Experienced managers and professionals from our Corporate and Professional Network are invited as guest speakers.
Accommodation:The Regional Authority for the Right to University Study (ARDSU) provides 1200 student accommodation places, most of which are in student residencies. These places are assigned in consideration of student merit and economic situation.

Our research activity includes scientific areas such as Management, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Management Control, Banking, Finance, Internal Auditing, Corporate Governance, Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Strategy, Organization, Human Resources Management, Innovation & Technology Management, Emerging Economies.
Theatre, Music, Cinema:Pisa is a small, but culturally lively city which offers various leisure opportunities for university students, who can further profit from many price reductions in cinema, theatre and concert tickets.
Numerous theatrical and musical seasons are organised every year, from those more traditional, such as at Teatro Verdi, to those more alternative such as at Teatro Sant'Andrea or Cinema Teatro Lux. Furthermore, Cascina and Pontedera, not far from Pisa, are renowned centres of theatrical research and experimentation.
The Concert Seasons by the Scuola Normale of Pisa provide a programme of first-rate classical music, accompanied by meetings and seminars where the public have the chance to meet performers.
Besides the various mainstream, commercial cinemas, there is also the Arsenale association that runs a Cineclub with selective, choice programming. This association has long been collaborating with the University in the organisation of events and seminars, and grants student access to a well equipped media library.
Pisa also has a number of active cultural clubs, associations and social centres that organise theatre, music and dance courses. Many of these offer refreshments and the possibility of enjoying and participating in live music and theatrical performances.
