PhotoTrainer is a photography school located in Palo Alto, in the San Francisco Bay Area, California that teaches you how to approach and enjoy your digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. Since 2005, we have taught hundreds of people how to own and operate their DSLR's. At PhotoTrainer, we conduct small photography classes and also offer private one-on-one training workshops for people and businesses. Our students learn with their own cameras in their hands. We also offer a summer photography camp for teens as well as online photography training.

About the Owner:
Tom Upton is a commercial photographer in Palo Alto, California. He has been photographing since the sixth grade, and has been an early adopter of digital image crafting since Photoshop 2.5. Classically trained in photography (with film!) at Art Center College of Design in the 70's Tom is well versed in both the analog and digital imaging worlds, and offers a unique philosophy of practical principals to his PhotoTrainer pulpit of photo punditry.
During his career Tom has worked with many well-known technology clients such as Apple Computer, Hewlett Packard, Stanford Genome Center, Stanford Hospital, Sunset Publishing, Klutz press, to name a few. In addition, he has created digital photography studios for Applied Graphics Technologies and Solzer & Hail in San Francisco. He is a seasoned professional photographer with clients in technology, portraiture, and fine art nature photography.
