Private School in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, FL
Why choose us: A small school may lack the ‘bells and whistles’ of elaborate architecture, but it has proven to be more effective in almost every variable in educating children. With our rich history and institutional traditions we can offer a complete school experience including extra curricular activities such as Honor Society, Student Council, Student Newspapers & Literary magazines, Yearbook, Prom, class rings, Guest Speakers, Assemblies, school plays, extensive field trips, a formal graduation ceremony and more. Mission:
Philosophy: A school’s philosophy defines its identity. At Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School and its companion Teaching and Learning Center, we have a commitment to excellence in developmental education and a partnership between the family and the school. Our program looks at each child as a unique individual and tailors activities and learning experiences to fit his or her developmental needs. We provide a classroom with a learning centered approach. Programs: Pre-Kindergarten Program; Kindergarten Program; Lower School Program; Middle School Program; Upper School Program. Staff: Our teachers act as learning facilitators and mentors. They are trained to create appropriate learning situations that stimulate a child’s inquiring mind. At FLP our staff is committed to reaching these goals. With encouragement, each member of our student society is aided in learning the social skills and manners appropriate for seeking and maintaining productive and responsible conduct in our real world society. Accreditation: We are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS), the National Independent Private School Association (NIPSA) and the Commission of International Trans- Regional Accreditation (CITA). Individual Attention: Our small classes and eclectic approach make our school different from any other. Students receive individual attention as they proceed through the educational process. Gifted students can take enrichment classes and be accelerated to keep them challenged. Our students develop self-confidence and positive self-image and become responsible for their own behavior and approach to learning. Developing the whole child: The school provides for co-curricula activities besides the regular academic instructional program. Activities such as athletics, fine arts workshops, SAT preparation, public speaking and debating contests, driver education classes, time management workshops, as well as college and career counseling are all provided as part of our efforts to develop the whole child.
