The Centre was established and has been operating in Larissa - Central Greece - since 1970. Up to 1982 it specialised in the teaching of English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese to Greek students.

There are no requirements as to the minimum number of students in each class, however, class size is kept small so that students have ample opportunity to receive help from the instructor, thus maximizing their opportunities for interaction and learning. Lessons are held on all days scheduled (Monday to Friday) except on public holidays and Christmas and Easter school holidays.
Modern Greek Courses:
The centre co-ordin
ates programs for foreign students with emphasis on Modern Greek Studies. These programs are held in co-operation with foreign universities who wish to send groups of students for intensive courses of 2 or 3 weeks. These courses are usually held between May and September each year. Dates are arranged with the interested Universities and/or schoolsand levels will be defined by us in co-operation with the interested Universities and schools or by placement test which will be held on the first day of arrival. Prices are available on demand and depend on the time of year and the requirements of each interested institution.
Modern Greek Study Program:
The centre offers modern Greek courses at five levels of competency. Courses are offered throughout the year (October to May) in both regular and intensive schedules. Each course covers approximately 80 hours of instruction over a eight or fourteen week period, with lessons being held three or five times a week.
All our students are given the opportunity to obtain official recognition of their level of language competency by sitting for the European Consortium Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek. This is available in four levels of proficiency and has been developed by a consortium of European Universities, with the University of Thessaloniki being a participating member.
Special Summer Courses:
These are held by the sea on the beaches of Larissa, central Greece and combine learning with summer vacations. They are held from mid-June till the end of August. These programmes last for 1, 2 or 3 weeks according to the needs of each individual group. Participants stay in self-catering flats and lessons are usually held in the mornings, giving everyone time to enjoy the sea and sun. Tuition hours are normally 10 hours a week (2 hours a day, Monday to Friday).
Greek evenings with Greek cuisine and dancing are included, as are shopping trips to Larissa. Excursions to various places of interest, such as Meteora and Mount Olympus, are available over the weekends. Also included in our programs are Modern Greek Tuition Courses (semester abroad programs) in co-operation with various institutions, colleges and universities from abroad and Ancient Greek Programs.
