Health Care Assistant (HCA) Diploma Program (29 weeks):
Designed by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, our Health Care Assistant (HCA) diploma programs aims to help you to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to function effectively as a front-line care-giver and respected member of the healthcare team, in facility and community settings. Under the supervision and direction of a health professional, health care assistants provide person-centred care aimed at promoting and maintaining the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of residents / clients.

- Career Planning and Management (Comp/Inc)
- Concepts for Practice
- Lifestyle and Choices
- Interpersonal Communications
- Introduction to Practice
- Personal Care and Assistance
- Caring for Individuals Experiencing Cognitive Challenges
- Caring for Individuals Experiencing Common Health Challenges
- Caring For Individuals Experiencing Mental Health Challenges
- Hospice-Palliative Care
- Clinical Training

Note: CPR, First Aid, Food Safe and basic WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) will be completed during the program.

Career Opportunities:
Job opportunities for graduates are available in both healthcare facilities and community agencies. They may take on the roles of Community Health Worker and/or Resident Care Attendant. They may also work in the areas of: Home Support, Adult Day Care, Assisted Living, Long Term Care, Acute and Complex Care, Special Care Units.
