Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, Illinois is a non-profit organization supported by the Government of Spain, offering Spanish courses and Hispanic world cultural activities and libraries in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, we have been serving the Chicagoland area. The Instituto Cervantes is a public institution created in 1991 for the promotion and teaching of the Spanish language. The Instituto Cervantes also has as its mission to nurture the growth of the Spanish and Spanish-American culture.

Spanish classes aimed at developing the student's communicative abilities in Spanish at Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, High Advanced levels.
The Instituto Cervantes teaches Spanish to enable students to communicate at all levels and in different situations throughout the Spanish speaking world. Our teaching methodology is based on the latest research on teaching/learning foreign languages. With a hands-on approach, students are able to use the language in meaningful contexts from the early stages.
Our classroom size of 6 – 14 students allows teachers to pay students a great deal of individualized attention.
Teachers are highly qualified in Spanish, Linguistics and other areas related to the teaching of the language. They all have specific training on how to teach Spanish as a foreign language and Spanish for Spanish speakers.
Special Courses
The Instituto Cervantes offers special courses, all taught in Spanish and designed to:
- Strengthen and improve specific aspects of the Spanish language: writing, reading, grammar, comprehension, etc.
- Teach Spanish for specific professional needs: Business, Medical, Legal, etc.
- Familiarize students with Spanish and Latin-American culture.
- Training courses for Spanish teachers
These classes have a maximum of 14 students and are taught in Spanish only. Courses include: Spanish for specific purposes, Spanish for Spanish speakers, scientific Spanish, and preparation for the official Spanish diplomas (DELE); Culture and civilization courses: literature, art, music, cinema, etc; Teachers Development Program.
