Spanish School in Tenerife, Canary Islands

Spanish School in Tenerife, Canary Islands Galfir Spanish School:
At Galfir Spanish School located in San Cristobal de La Laguna (west of Santa Cruz) on the island of Tenerife, Canary islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, south-west of Spain and north-west of Africa, we offer a truly wide range of Spanish courses for people with all kinds of needs and learning preferences. We provide a close student-teacher relationship thanks to the medium-to-small size of our school. Four different learning levels (Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) are provided to suit each student’s individual needs. Students are assessed via a level test on the first day of their course.

Because of the large number of foreign students from diverse parts of the world that are drawn to our town’s university, we’re used to teaching students with diverse nationalities and different levels in Spanish. Our teachers have a clear teaching philosophy and take personal interest in their students, always encouraging them not only to learn Spanish but to learn about our beautiful island and its culture. Their support extends beyond the classroom and their friendly attitude makes for a truly comfortable and familiar atmosphere.

Our school is located in Tenerife’s second-largest city, San Cristobal de La Laguna. Known as “La Laguna,” the city was established in 1496 and was the capital of the Canary Islands up until their conquest. It lies in the north of the island and has a population is of 125,000, with 99% of its inhabitants being Spanish-speaking.

The Canary Islands consist of seven islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean, off the north western coast of Africa. Together, the islands form one of Spain’s seventeen autonomous communities. The seven Canary Islands are: Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Tenerife is the largest of the islands. It’s famous as the “Island of Spring,” thanks to its year-round springtime temperatures; and as the home of “El Teide,” Spain’s largest mountain and the third-largest volcano in the world.

Location and Facilities:

Our school is located in a terraced villa, beautifully refurbished to show its Colonial roots and centrally located within La Laguna. We’re situated at just a three minute walk from La Laguna University, with bus and train stops within 100 meters of our front step providing access to the rest of the Island.

We’re also very close to the centre of La Laguna (famous for its charming appearance and picturesque buildings), where you’ll find nice shopping areas, beautiful parks and be able to experience some of the best nightlife in Tenerife.

Facilities:
A computer room with free internet access and a library filled with helpful books and magazines are always available for students. Our school also enjoys an indoor patio and a rooftop terrace where students can take in the sights of our city, get to know their classmates or simply take a relaxing break in the sun.
