Verbum is a school in Buenos Aires, eastern Argentina, specializing in teaching Spanish to foreigners. We offer regular, intensive and super intensive Spanish courses, one-to-one classes and Spanish for specific purposes (Spanish for business, Spanish for travelers, Medical Spanish, etc.). The courses allow students to be prepared if they want to take internationally recognized exams. Verbum School of Spanish is an Examining Center of the International Certificate of Spanish (D.I.E.) recognized by the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain). Our teachers have University degrees and post graduate studies in Spanish as a foreign language. Those who teach business Spanish are Economic graduates. We offer free social and cultural activities, volunteer and trainee & internship programs which offer the opportunity to live and work in Argentina. Verbum also provides accommodation in carefully selected families, hostels, bed & breakfast or apartments of Buenos Aires.

General Spanish:
In our general language courses you will learn all vital aspects of communication in Spanish:
* how to speak correct, well-pronounced Spanish, appropriate for the situation
* understanding authentic listening and reading texts

* strategies for effective learning; linguistic approaches to difficult situations
* coping with cultural and social differences
Course topics include everyday situations, society, cult
ure and history. Special emphasis varies according to the interests of your course group.
Intensive courses:
Are you aiming to learn Spanish in a short period of time? Then choose our intensive courses. These courses give you intensive instruction in Spanish while leaving you enough time to explore life in Buenos Aires.
15, 20 or 30 classes a week from Semi-Intensive to Super-Intensive. Each class lasts 55 minutes.Intensive courses are offered at 6 levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Spanish for Business:
The course is designed for people working in business, services, administration or management who need to deal with spoken and written Spanish at work or wish to work in a Spanish speaking country and have good Spanish skills at the Intermediate level.
The students develop the ability to discuss topics related to the business world such as organization of a company, marketing, sales, economy, quality and services.
Because of the growing importance of Spanish in the business world, the demand for practical commercial Spanish courses is growing. Yet, to date, there have been very few courses designed to meet this need. This program fulfils the requirements of bilingual commercial courses by focusing on the major business fields and presenting technical vocabulary, dialogues and models of business letters, as well as samples of commercial papers (such as credit and shipping documents) necessary to function in these fields.
Course contents:
* appropriate responses and the right language for handling work-related situations
* how to present the products and services of your company
* how to apply moderation techniques at meetings and negotiations
* how to write job applications and successfully conduct job interviews
* working techniques, operational processes and cultural differences.
Medical Spanish:
This course is designed for doctors, registered nurses and others who work, or intend to work, in the medical sector to answer the growing demand for relevant knowledge of Spanish amongst doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers. It is oriented towards improving students basic vocabulary related to healthcare, so that they can communicate respectfully and effectively with Spanish speaking colleagues, patients and their families in the course of their daily work.
The lessons will be both theoretical and practical, making special emphasis on communication. With the purpose in mind to make the classes as realistic as possible, students will realize workshop, simulations and role playing exercises, they'll read medical texts and complete medical documents.
Special attention will be given to cultural differences including information on subjects such as health, illness, family issues, etc. and how they are dealt with by the Latin Community.
In addition to the topics included in the course program, teachers and students may propose topics to discuss in class, for example: medical and nursing studies in Argentina, and healthcare techniques, private healthcare and hospitals in Argentina.
For the medical Spanish course a knowledge of basic Spanish is required. If you have trouble understanding the lessons, you can solicit individual lessons (not included in the price).
Preparation for internacional exams:
All courses offered at Verbum are tought with the aim of enabling students to pass the internationally recognised exams. Besides we offer special courses to prepare these examinations.
Special Courses:
There are special Spanish courses directed to professionals, directed to travelers and to students who wish to focus on a specific need or subject.
In the specialized courses for professionals (Spanish for business, thematic workshops, Spanish for exchanges and study-abroad students, medical Spanish, Spanish for lawyers, etc.), topics include:
* specialized vocabulary
* communication in the professional or academic environment
* understanding specialized texts
The Spanish courses directed to travelers are starter courses for travelers in Argentina who need to learn some basic communication skills quickly. This course includes subjects such as asking for directions, making travel plans and exchanging currency, etc. Students also learn about the city of Buenos Aires and different places of Argentina.

We arrange tailor-made tuition on an one-to-one basis. You can come to us or have lessons in your home or office. We will also be happy to advise you on how best to combine individual tuition with class tuition.
