Le Petit Prince Bilingual School, Paris:
Le Petit Prince Bilingual School of Paris provides a fully bilingual English-French education in a warm and caring environment for children from 3 – 11 years old. We are situated in Neuilly-sur-Seine in the 16th district, an affluent suburb in the Département Hauts-de-Seine, to the west of Paris. Le Petit Prince Bilingual School of Paris follows the successful dual language immersion programme in both its nursery and primary school classes. At Le Petit Prince, our approach is based on firm evidence of what makes an effective dual language programme (also known as two-way immersion programme – TWI). Children develop strong language skills in both English and French, whilst enjoying a wide range of activities underpinned by a solid academic framework. Our small classes and committed teachers give every child the chance to shine, wherever their talents may lead them.

Our Mission Statement:We are committed to providing the best education for every child in our care. In doing this, we will:
* Enhance learning opportunities by creating an environment where children’s natural love of learning is encouraged.
* Enable children to develop as self-confident, independent, well-balanced global citizens.
* Encourage positive and tolerant attitudes towards other people, languages, and cultures.
Why Two-Way Immersion?
Research shows that children educated under a dual language immersion programme benefit in a wide variety of ways.
Better Language Skills
With dual language immersion, children achieve high levels of proficiency in a second language. Most importantly, this happens without detrimental effects on their primary language development. In fact, there is evidence to show that they often develop better mastery of their native language than monolingual children. And when they come to learn further languages, children educated bilingually from the early years tend to become proficient more easily than others.
Better Thinking Skills
It’s been shown that dual-immersion children perform better on tasks that call for divergent thinking, pattern recognition, problem-solving, and abstraction. The benefits of this are especially noticeable in maths.
Students also have enhanced levels of linguistic awareness, and are particularly skilled at working out relationships between what is happening and what is being said.
Better Social and Cultural Awareness
By interacting with other children who are fluent in the target language, students become comfortable in a range of cultural settings giving them increased adaptability as they grow and travel. Children in a dual immersion environment focus naturally on what they have in common with each other, rather than seeing those from different cultural backgrounds as different or ‘foreign’.
A Special Place, where Children Really do Come First:At Le Petit Prince Bilingual School of Paris, we will treasure and value your child, making sure that they are happy, safe and secure. Your child will thrive, learn, and develop confidence and-self esteem, all within a nurturing environment underpinned by sound academic principles.
We’ll build on your child’s natural enthusiasm to learn, taking them to the next step and beyond. Your child will be encouraged to ask questions, to imagine, and to discover the world around them.
A Fully Bilingual School:
Children of both mother tongues are mixed together throughout the school day, spending the morning immersed in one language and culture and the afternoon immersed in the other. Your child will become comfortable with different cultural approaches - a key advantage in our increasingly global society.
By the end of their time at Le Petit Prince Bilingual School of Paris, your child will have a solid foundation for proficiency in both French and English and be confident to continue their education in a French, British or international school setting.
A School where Fun is Based on Firm Foundations:
You can be confident that your child is following a bilingual school curriculum that takes in both the English and French national curriculum frameworks and the research-based practices of total immersion – but your child won’t know or care about any of that. They’ll just be having fun.
Small Classes:Children are grouped by age into classes of no more than 12 children, with children from both mother-tongue back
grounds mixed together. Each class has a teacher and an assistant. Whatever your child needs next, whether a new challenge or a patient explanation, there will be someone there to notice and to help.
Equal Priority to Both Languages:
For half the day, the class will be led by a native English speaking teacher and assistant, and for the other half, by a native French speaking teacher.
Both languages are given equal priority, so that children’s language skills broaden and grow. The timetable is planned so that subjects are taught in both languages.
