Berlin Metropolitan School:
The Berlin Metropolitan School (BMS) is an international bilingual (English/German) day school in the Hackescher Markt area of Berlin’s Mitte district in northeastern Germany. Combined under one roof are a Preschool, Primary School and Secondary School (Middle and Upper School), which culminate in the internationally recognized IGCSE and IB diplomas. Our students take pride in meeting the challenges presented by a rigorous school program, at the core of which is a renowned international curriculum. Teaching is mainly conducted in English, in adherence to the standards of the IBO and Cambridge University.

Academy quality goes hand in hand with school’s foremost priority: instilling a love of learning. Children enter our school with a range of abilities, talents, and interests. It is our aim to identify and develop these talents, to help children discover the ways in which they learn best and to prepare them for a lifetime of learning.
Aim:
The Berlin Metropolitan School is committed to providing an education for children that will enable them to be thoughtful, responsible and knowledgeable citizens of an increasingly interconnected world. It is therefore important to us that we educate the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.
We are committed to individualizing instruction, whether that commitment takes the form of support for a student who is having trouble mastering a basic skill or stimulation for a student whose ability to paint is far beyond his or her years.
We believe that children learn best when parents and the school work together as a community to support the work of the school. The principals and teachers communicate with parents on a regular basis and provide numerous opportunities for parent involvement in school life.
Bilingualism:
Learning at our school takes place in a bilingual context, where immersion in a second language paves the way for communication as well as for understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. Respect for self and others is the concept that underlies every aspect of our curriculum.
A student who graduates from the Berlin Metropolitan School will demonstrate the following characteristics::* an appreciation of the cultures of Germany and throughout the world
* an appreciation of the value of articulate, literate and perceptive expression
* an ability to use technology effectively
* a sense of his/her responsibility toward the community and the world
* scientific awareness
* an appreciation of his/her own creative, artistic, and athletic skills
