International Preschool in Tokyo, Japan

Komazawa Park International School, Tokyo:
Komazawa Park International School is an acclaimed international preschool and kindergarten situated in the heart of Tokyo, Japan in Setagaya. Komazawa Park International School is a living institution: it throbs with laughter, cries, songs, the pitter-patter of tiny feet, and the shrill of excitement of happy children. At KPIS, our students love coming to school, and they love playing with their friends and being with their teachers. You can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices when you walk into our classrooms. Early childhood is such a wonderful time for children. Because children are fragile beings, it’s important to protect them and provide them with a nurturing environment, yet at the same time give them room to grow and experience things by themselves. Our school’s balanced English/Japanese curriculum allows children to mature naturally and at their own pace. We give our students structure and the freedom to choose, and we give them emotional and physical security.

 Mission :

Mission At KPIS, our mission is to create an environment that develops and encourages:
* confidence
* creative thinking
* independence
* intellectual risk-taking
* resourcefulness and
* social and emotional adaptability

Our mission is what guides us and everything that we do every single day. We’ve all heard of the saying “a picture speaks a thousand words,” and that’s why we want you to see our school’s mission in action for yourself. Looking at the photos of our students, we think you’ll agree that our mission is alive and well.

We believe there is no other place more vibrant with children enjoying the time of their lives when nothing matters more than having fun.

Educational Philosophy:
Education is not simply a matter of encouraging literacy and numeric skills; it must also address the social and emotional qualities that underlie the basic human needs of harmony, positive self-awareness and self-expression, and security. We are focused on providing our students with a high-quality education program that offers a well-balanced curriculum in a nurturing environment.

 Development of the child:

In order to see positive changes and growth in a child, there needs to be compassion and care because they are like the water and the sun that nurture the growth of a seed. Likewise, it’s in this kind of an environment where a child becomes confident, creative, independent, intellectually risk-taking, resourceful, and social and emotional adaptable. These are the traits that we strive to develop in our students with the help of our qualified and experienced teachers.

We strongly believe in the value of free play,Development of the child and Komazawa Olympic Park serves as a large open classroom where our students enjoy the freedom of running, tumbling, and playing around as well as climbing trees. The fallen leaves, twigs, and rocks provide natural materials for our students to stimulate their creativity, and the wide open area gives them the space they need to run around carefree and just be children.

 Free play:

Free play at Komazawa Olympic Park is only one of the many examples at KPIS that gives our students the opportunity to explore their surroundings, act on their intuition and grow in the process. I encourage you to visit our school and experience what it’s like for yourself. I look forward to welcoming you at our doors!
