International Preschool in Tokyo, Japan

Komazawa Park International School, Tokyo:
Komazawa Park International School is an acclaimed international preschool and kindergarten situated in the heart of Tokyo, Japan in Setagaya. Komazawa Park International School is a living institution: it throbs with laughter, cries, songs, the pitter-patter of tiny feet, and the shrill of excitement of happy children. At KPIS, our students love coming to school, and they love playing with their friends and being with their teachers. You can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices when you walk into our classrooms. Early childhood is such a wonderful time for children. Because children are fragile beings, it’s important to protect them and provide them with a nurturing environment, yet at the same time give them room to grow and experience things by themselves. Our school’s balanced English/Japanese curriculum allows children to mature naturally and at their own pace. We give our students structure and the freedom to choose, and we give them emotional and physical security.

Pegasus 1: 18 months – 2 years old
:
Pegasus 1 is our youngest class and gives families the option of sending their children to school three, four or five days per week. Pegasus 1 has an extremely low student-teacher ratio of four to one, and its small class size and warm atmosphere help students make the transition from home to school very easy.

PeInternational Schoolsgasus 2: 2 – 3 years old:
Pegasus 2 is our most popular class with the most applicants every year. Parents have the option of sending their children three, four or five times per week, and students in this class benefit from the low student-teacher ratio of five to one.

Unicorn Blue | Unicorn Red 3 – 4 years old
:
Unicorn has two classes, and students are placed in these classes based on their age, gender, and nationality. In Unicorn classes, the student-teacher ratio slightly increases as students grow older and more independent.

Phoenix Green | Phoenix Purple 4 – 5 years old
:
Phoenix classes are transition classes that reinforce and strengthen students’ pre-academic skills in preparation for Olympia and kindergarten programs at other international schools.

Olympia 5 – 6 years old:
Olympia is our kindergarten class and prepares students for entry at excellent international schools in Japan, including St. Mary’s International School, The American School in Japan, and Seisen International School. Olympia has two graduations per school year, one in March for graduates who will attend Japanese elementary schools and one in June for graduates who will move on to international elementary schools.
