Ecole Des Roches, Normandy:
Located on a 148 acre estate in Normandy, northwestern France, 3 km from Verneuil-sur-Avre and 115 km north west of Paris, Ecole des Roches is an international and non denominational private grant-aided boarding secondary school for boys and girls. The school consists of a College and a Lycee. The College is for 11 to 15 years olds, has an English language European section where pupils receive History and Geography or Physics and Chemistry classes in English for 4 ème et 3 ème classes and has the aim to start preparing for the Baccalauréat Option Euorpéenne. At the Lycee students prepare for the Literature, Economics and Science sections of the Baccalauréat as well as for the following foreign languages exams: Cambridge, SAT, TOEFL, Cervantés and Goethe Institutes. We also priovide boarding revision courses for Brevet des Collèges, French language baccalauréat and Baccalauréat as well as holiday courses to get young children ready for the new school year.

* As early as the 6 ème, the students have the chance to learn 2 languages
* The Ecole des Roches offers optional introductory courses in Chinese (Collège and Lycée).
* As far as English lessons are concerned, the students are allocated to a group according to their level : from beginners to bilingual students…
* As far as Spanish, German and Russian lessons are concerned, students are also allocated to a group according to their level and they may change group during the year depending on their current level.
* Options such as Italian, Arabic, Chinese and Hebrew can be chosen. It implies registration with the "Centre National d'Education à Distance" (CNED – correspondence course) or one-to-one courses with extra-charges.

* The Russian speakers have the opportunity to follow lessons on culture and civilisation along with a special preparation for the Baccalaureate Russian exam.
* The Chinese students ("Premières" and "Terminales") have the opportunity to follow a special preparation for the Baccalaureate Chinese exam.
* Linguistic exchanges are organised in England, Ireland, The United States, Spain, Germany, Australia, China, Russia and Ukraine.

Extra-teaching courses, which aim to support students in revising lessons they haven't fully understood, are included in their weekly timetable. Students are allocated to small groups to encourage interactivity. Students who have exams at the end of the year have the chance to use computing resources in the main subjects.

This leading-edge teaching method will soon and progressively be generalised to other classes.

Keeping In Touch With Parents:
o Parents can contact the Headmistresses, Educational Advisers, Teachers and House Masters, anytime, by phone, via the Intranet or by organising appointments.
o Every month and every trimester, parents are sent marks sheets and reports on students' behaviour.
o Every week, parents have the opportunity to follow children's progress on school diaries (carnet de bord).
o Through the Intranet, parents can confidentially check children's marks, their progress, and all the details regarding the Ecole des Roches.
o Twice a year, open days are organised for parents to meet teachers.

Boarding:
Nine spacious houses accommodating 20 to 45 teenagers each: 4 houses for the girls, 5 houses for the boys.

The students do not only learn in class. The Ecole des Roches provides them with many opportunities to develop their culture and true self through a wide range of clubs, societies and associations.

Our clubs and workshops motivate students, encourage creativity and contribute to the development of talents and even technical and professional skills. For students who do not feel really self-confident, our clubs and workshops contribute to inspire and stimulate them (2 afternoons per week for Collège and one afternoon per week for Lycée).

Our clubs and workshops are considered as ordinary lessons. On that account, students’behaviour, commitment and work are also assessed.
