Wax Carving II ~ Stone Settings, Ring design.

This Intermediate Level Wax Carving course offers students a forum to explore construction of stone settings, and other wax carving techniqes including carving, build up, and drip methods of applying wax to create a model for casting. Whether designing for fabrication or for one of a kind pieces – the inclusion of gemstones is one of the most sought after design elements.

We learn how to make bezel settings for cabuchon and faceted gemstones in the wax model. we also can spice up a Ring project design with the introduction of techniques such as wax granulation, building varied textures and levels of wax, and creating mirror images (right and left sides). Introduction of a Master Touch Welder tool allows for precision and intricate design work.
