Milestones Preschool Program is a play based preschool program located in the beautiful neighborhood of Lower Ladera in Inglewood, Los Angeles, California close to Westchester and Culver City. At Milestones we take extra care in making children feel safe, comfortable and loved. We provide children a rich environment to explore and discover. Our goal for our graduates is to enter kindergarten as self confident, effective problem solvers. Our philosophy is influenced by the teachings of Reggio, a philosophy that believes that children thrive when given time to ask questions, test theories and explore topics that interest them. Reading, writing, math, science and social development is taug ht through play. Teachers take much care in planning curriculum to stay within the child’s interest zone. We are a bilingual Program; we speak, sing songs, do rhymes, finger plays count and introduce letters in both Spanish and English.

Social-Emotional Development
We also believe that emotional development is the core of proper whole development. We have familiarized ourselves with the concepts practiced in nonviolent parenting which stresses the importance of emotional intelligence. We implement emotional support and validation throughout the day in our program. We do not “discipline” our children instead we use redirection. We work together to find a solution to a problem that is not benefiting our center as a whole. Conflict resolution is done is a way where there is never a victim and a perpetrator. We do not shame or give our children time outs. We believe that every behavior has meaning and we work hard to give children proper tools to cope. We use, “All behavior is a person’s best attempt to meet a basic need.” As our mantra, we are here to help children understand the meaning behind their actions and give them more socially acceptable tools to getting their needs met.
