Media Make-up Academy is a make-up artist training school in Chicago, IL which offers make-up artistry certification classes for beginners as well as bridal and fashion seminars. Our professional certificate make-up classes are taught by Amanda Shackleton - a celebrity artist. Classes are given in a professional photostudio, complete with full make up stations.

40 hour Intensive Make-up Classes:

Learn everything in this class. 9:30-5:30 Monday-Friday

You will learn with a full professional make up kit-natural make-up,dramatic make-up,period make up for all skin types and ethnicities. Your class will end with a professional photoshoot to begin your portfolio.

Course Content:

Each morning starts with a specific subject, then a demonstration and discussion of the subject . Day 1:
Full review of make-up kit and brushes
Understanding different skin tones and face shapes.
Learning the color wheel
Corrective skin techniques(broken veins,acne,discoloration)
Under eye darkness and circles
Foundations,concealers and powder-how to apply and match.
Correct eyebrow shaping
Blush application

Day 2:
We concentrate on eyes. This is where we will spend the most amount of time. Day 2 is dedicated to natural beauty make-up(think cosmetic ads,wedding make-up,and natural glowing skin). We will also discuss the difference between make-up for color and black and white images. We will cover eye shapes, applying eyeshadow, liner and mascara.

Afternoon:
We concentrate on stronger more dramatic eyes (think high fashion and runway), applying liquid liner and false eyelashes and Practice.

Day 3:
The history of make-up
Period make-up (make-up from the 1920”s thru 1980”s)

We will explore and practice make-up looks throughout the 20th century.Think Rita Hayworth, Twiggy and Clara Bow

Afternoon Practice

Day 4:
Recap and review of everything we learned.
We will discuss the business aspect of make-up
How to build your portfoilo, approach photographers,models and modeling agencies.
Different careers as a make-up artist
How to eventually approach clients and find an agency to represent you
Afternoon practice session-prepare for your photoshoot

Day 5:
Photoshoot day
You will bring in a model and have your first photoshoot with a professional fashion photographer
You will get to choose the look you would like to do for your first portfolio picture!!!!
