Conversational Mandarin:
We use the same approach when teaching Conversational Chinese and Travel Chinese. We start with daily usage phrases rather than the travel usage phrases. Using the Pinyin system (spelling sounds), we teach the learner the fastest way to gain the most phrases you can use daily so you gain confidence in learning Chinese.
We have multiple sets of text books which we will select and mail you the most appropriate one to you.
Chinese for Travel:
Travelers usually feel more at ease when they can speak the language of their destinations for convenience or fun. Understanding the culture and speaking the language can be a valuable experience.
Beginner Level
We begin teaching students with the Pinyin system or review of pinyin system. We focus on:
- Mastering Chinese pronunciation/pinyin system and Chinese input system.
- Learning the stroke and parts of Chinese Characters and calligraphy.
- Mastering Chinese grammar.
The level covers 4 quarters (1 year), which include 'Standard Chinese" for beginners, plus supplemental materials.
Intermediary Level
We begin instructing students with review of strokes & parts, and focusing on:
- Mastering Chinese grammar
- Mastering Chinese conversation
- Increase in Chinese vocabulary
Intermediary level students start "Standard Chinese" intermediary level with supplemental reading, grammar, and story telling materials. This level covers 4 - 8 quarters (1 - 2 years).
Advanced Level
In the advanced level, students already master approx. 500 - 1500 words and understand Chinese grammar and could write short essays or business memos in Chinese. We cover:
- Learning Chinese culture & history
- Writing a short essay
This level covers "Standard Chinese" advanced level. It will have 4- 8 quarters (1-2 years).
Business Chinese:
1 - on - 1 lesson
The privilege of 1 to 1 lessons is to help our students to concentrate on their specific language needs, whether grammar, vocabulary, listening, or preparing for an upcoming presentation in Chinese business. We arrange different lessons according to our student's individual learning speed, and thus they are very intensive and effective.
Small Group
Students are arranged in small groups with 5-7 students per class after an evaluation of their overall Chinese language abilities. Depending upon these results, we can find the suitable class for you. Our small groups provide an opportunity for role-play, discussions, meetings and a chance to put grammatical structures to use in conversations with colleagues.
Beginner (1-3 sessions, per session has 30 lessons)
- Practice basic pronunciation of Mandarin, master Mandarin pronunciation
- Master about 1000 words and learn to write the characters
- Learn basic grammar and sentence patterns of Mandarin
- Practice basic communication skills such as greetings and self-introduction
Elementary (1-3 sessions)
- Review the words learned at Entry Level and master 1000 new words
- Learn more complicated grammar and sentence patterns.
- Practice everyday language
- Read and understand a simple paragraph
Intermediate (1-3 sessions)
- Review the words learned at previous levels and master 300 new words
- Master the usage of grammar structure, and speak a paragraph of sentences using correct grammar
- Master key social communication skills
- Read and understand a short Chinese article
- Write a short paragraph using learned Chinese words and phrases
Advanced (1-3 sessions)
- Enlarge your vocabulary and perfect your knowledge of sentence patterns and oral skills
- Express yourself accurately under different circumstances
- Read a complete Chinese article and understand the meaning
- Write a complete paragraph using words, grammar structure and sentence patterns learned in the online Chinese courses
Chinese for College/University:
For college/university age Chinese learning population, we assume that students are taking courses in schools towards foreign language credit. Our teaching becomes supplemental to school classes. We will design customized courses to complement & assist student in learning in depth Chinese language and culture.
Primary goals for this student population are to:
- Master Chinese pronunciation/pinyin system and Chinese input system
- Learn the stroke and parts of Chinese Characters and calligraphy
- Master Chinese grammar
- Master Chinese conversation
