Adult Total Immersion Program
This is a tailored program designed to develop conversational fluency in the shortest time possible meeting the language needs of individuals regardless of their personal, study or professional interest . Our Total Immersion program offers 10 different Spanish levels from beginning to advanced, including the Native Spanish Speaker program. If a student new to the school is tested with an ability level falling between 2 levels, Instituto Chac-Mool offers private Spanish instruction free of charge for 80 minute sessions (at the Director's discretion) to bring that student up to the next level.
Class orientation and placement testing will be given first thing on Monday morning. All students will be grouped by Spanish ability based on a brief written, auditory and oral placement test. Students will then be placed into the appropriate group of no more than 5 students. Our courses begin every Monday throughout the year (ask about mid-week starts, outside of summer months). Students may want to study Spanish for as short as one week or as long as six months. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of their course. College credit is also available for any number of weeks of study.
Spanish & Culture Classes Just For Teens
Taught by enthusiastic, qualified, young teachers, this program is fast paced, interactive, inspirational and fun. Our goal is to have teens not only comfortable and confident speaking Spanish, but also learn about the culture and history of Mexico. The program includes dynamic activities, each one with a clear educational and character building objective. Since this program has an emphasis on learning Spanish, teachers inspire students to contribute and connect with o
thers by using only the Spanish language.
Spanish Programs Just for Children
Instituto Chac-Mool offers two children's Spanish programs year round for ages as young as 4-5 years. The programs are created specifically for young learners to keep them active and engaged while learning Spanish. The class hours are weekdays 8:50 am to 1:50 pm, same as the adult program, and the children may join evening school-wide activities such as Mexican cooking classes, as well as weekend excursions.
Medical Spanish
This program is designed for doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who want to improve their Spanish skills and develop medical vocabulary in order to effectively deal with their Spanish-speaking patients. This is a customized Professional Course and learning exercises will focus on the needs of the student. Students should have a basic knowledge of Spanish in order to benefit from this course, and the number of weeks is determined by the student's needs and schedule.
This class will be taught using a variety of methods with an emphasis on experiential learning: i.e. lecture and instruction, drills and practice, role play, cultural immersion activity, audio and video taping, videos viewed in class, community based activity, workbook practice, course assignments and readings. Students have the opportunity to volunteer in a local medical clinic.
